Vietnam's women volleyball team eyes third championship title at AVC Nations Cup 2025
Vietnam’s women volleyball team is gearing up to defend their championship crown at the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Nations Cup, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has said.

At a press conference in Hanoi on May 30 to official announce the tournament, scheduled to run from June 7 to 14 in the capital city, Kiet said that his squad has been intensively preparing at a training camp in Quang Ninh province for more than a month.
An Australian fitness specialist has been incorporated into their coaching staff, resulting in significant improvements in players’ physical conditions.
Eleven nations will compete in this year's championship, including Australia, India, Taiwan (China), Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong (China), Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and host nation Vietnam. Teams are split into two pools for round-robin play.
As an International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) ranking event, the AVC Nations Cup carries significant weight for participating teams, with the champion securing a ticket to the 2026 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Group assignments were determined during a May 25 draw ceremony held in the Philippines by the AVC. Vietnam is in Group A alongside Australia, India, Taiwan (China), and Hong Kong (China). Meanwhile, Group B features Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Iran, Indonesia, Mongolia, and New Zealand.
Now in its fourth edition, the tournament is for Asia’s second-tier national squads. Vietnam's female team won back-to-back titles in the previous two editions, and they enter this year’s competition for a third consecutive championship.
Ticket prices are set at 100,000 VND (3.84 USD) for regular matches and 150,000 VND for the finale.
