80 years of National Day: Austria celebration marks with a burst of colours, sounds, and culture

The event was attended by the Director of Protocol and the Director General of Political Affairs of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, numerous leaders from Austrian ministries and localities, ambassadors, chargé d'affaires, leaders of international organizations, the United Nations in Vienna, the business community, Austrian intellectuals, the Liaison Committee, and the Vietnamese community.
The ceremony began with a solemn flag-raising accompanied by the powerful and emotional national anthem performed by the Vietnamese-Austrian youth choir. It featured documentary footage of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, and highlighted the 80-year journey of defending and building the nation, marked by renewal, integration, and proud development.
In his speech, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang emphasized the historical significance of the 80th Independence Day and the 135th birth anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh. He conveyed the widespread pride of the Vietnamese people in their past, joy in the present, and confidence and optimism about the country's future in this era of growth.
The Ambassador expressed Vietnam's gratitude to all friends and partners who have supported and cooperated with Vietnam over the past 80 years. He also stressed Vietnam's commitment to continue its renewal process, aiming for two centennial goals, and maintaining a consistent foreign policy of peace, independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization, as an active, responsible member of the international community and the United Nations.

Maximilian Hennig, authorized by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, read a congratulatory letter on Vietnam's National Day addressed to President Luong Cuong and the leadership and people of Vietnam. He expressed a desire to further deepen and substantiate Vietnam-Austria relations and appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Austria.
The Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), along with representatives of other international organizations and the United Nations in Vienna (IAEA, UNODC, UNCITRAL, UNOOSA, INTERPOL), reviewed the significant cooperation and contributions of Vietnam. They praised Vietnam's reputation and position on the international stage and expressed admiration for the nation's heroic history and remarkable socio-economic achievements over 40 years of renewal.

The ceremony was a vibrant blend of Vietnamese and Austrian colours, sounds, and culture, featuring national anthem performances, traditional and modern fashion displays by Vietnamese designer La Hong, and a rich culinary presentation of spring rolls and pho (organized in collaboration with the We Love Pho Association in Europe) paired with Austria's famous wines.
