Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus hosts reception celebrating 80th National Day

WVR - On September 11, at the capital city of Minsk, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus solemnly organized a diplomatic reception to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Many Belarusian and international friends attended the 80th National Day reception in Minsk.

The event was attended by approximately 400 guests, including Mr. Anatoly Aleksandrovich Sivak, Deputy Prime Minister representing the Government of Belarus, representatives from both Houses of Parliament, various ministries, sectors, and localities; heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations in Minsk, the business community, and a large number of overseas Vietnamese living, studying, and working in Belarus. Notably, the event was graced by the presence of generations of Belarusian veterans who were in Vietnam during the country's struggle for national liberation and reunification.

In his speech, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung recalled the significant historical milestone when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The Ambassador emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh's truth, “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”, has become a guiding principle and an invaluable source of spiritual strength for the Vietnamese people to overcome sacrifices and hardships, safeguarding and build the country, and engage in international integration as seen today.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always cherishes the solidarity and valuable support of international friends, including the people of Belarus. Notably, the two countries marked a historical turning point with the State visit of General Secretary To Lam to Belarus in May 2025, elevating bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, aligning with the countries' status and the long-standing tradition of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, opening a new era of partnership in the new age.

On behalf of the Belarusian Government, Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Aleksandrovich Sivak expressed pride in revisiting the glorious and heroic history of the Vietnamese nation in its struggle for independence, freedom, and national unity, in which Belarus (formerly part of the Soviet Union) made worthy contributions. He affirmed that Vietnam remains Belarus's top priority partner in Southeast Asia.

The Deputy Prime Minister valued the long-standing friendship between the peoples of the two countries, which continues to be nurtured through vibrant exchanges at all levels, including high-level interactions, mutual support at international forums, and especially "people-to-people diplomacy". He highlighted the visit of General Secretary To Lam and the signing of the Joint Statement on establishing a Strategic Partnership as a historic milestone, reflecting a high level of political trust, elevating bilateral relations to new heights. The Deputy Prime Minister committed that Belarus will make every effort to effectively implement the agreements between the high-level leaders of the two countries, for the benefit and prosperity of both peoples.

A large number of Belarusian friends also expressed their solidarity, attachment, and admiration for the Vietnamese people, sincerely wishing Vietnam and its people continued proud achievements on the path of nation-building and national defense.

Impressive cultural performances by the Vietnamese community in Belarus.

At the grand reception, the Vietnamese community in Belarus presented impressive cultural performances and unique traditional culinary dishes to introduce to international friends. Notably, the singing of the national anthems of both countries by Vietnamese children born and raised in Belarus, along with the "Around Vietnam" dance performance by the women's dance troupe, deeply moved the audience and brought a joyful and proud atmosphere in celebration of 80 years of the nation's Independence.

In addition to the diplomatic reception, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus also organized an exhibition on the country and people of Vietnam and the historical journey of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus also held a meeting with the Vietnamese community on the occasion of the 80th National Day, and the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association organized a celebration of Vietnam's National Day at the Belarus House of Friendship with Peoples.
