In his speech, Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong affirmed that the event of President Ho Chi Minh proclaiming the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, not only marked the foundation of an independent nation but also opened a new era of freedom and happiness for the entire nation.

Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people overcame all difficulties, achieved independence, unified the country, successfully implemented the Doi moi (Renewal) process, and transformed Vietnam into a peaceful, stable, friendly, and dynamic nation on the international stage.

Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong highlighted Vietnam's remarkable achievements over the past 80 years. Over nearly 40 years of Doi moi, Vietnam has overcome the aftermath of war and emerged as one of the dynamic economies in the region and the world. The per capita income in 1990 was about 100 USD, but by 2024 it had increased to 4,700 USD, raising the economy's scale to nearly 500 billion USD, ranking third in ASEAN.

Currently, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, is a member of over 70 international organizations, has trade relations with 230 countries and territories, participates in 17 new-generation free trade agreements, and is vigorously implementing administrative reforms at all levels.

Vietnam aims to develop into a high-income developed country by 2045 based on the "four pillars": Promoting science, technology, and innovation; proactively integrating deeply into the international community; strongly developing the private economic sector; comprehensively renewing the work of building and enforcing laws.

The Ambassador emphasized the close friendship between Vietnam and Chile, stemming from the historic meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and President Salvador Allende in May 1969, and continued with Chile becoming one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1971.

The official visit of President Luong Cuong to Chile in November 2024 also marked an important milestone, further deepening the relationship between the two countries.
