Venezuela celebrates the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day

On the morning of September 2 (local time), at the Ho Chi Minh Monument on Bolívar Avenue, Caracas, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and the Caracas City Government, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, solemnly organized the 80th Anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19/1945- August 19/2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2/9/1945-2/9/2025).
The event was attended by Politburo Member, PSUV Vice President for Foreign Affairs, Tania Díaz; Politburo Member, PSUV Vice President for Mass Mobilization, Nahum Fernández; Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania Tatiana Pugh; representatives of the leadership of ruling coalition parties, central and local departments, and a large number of people from Caracas.

On behalf of PSUV President and President Nicolas Maduro, Politburo Member, PSUV Vice President for Foreign Affairs Tania Díaz extended warm congratulations to the Party, State, Government, and people of Vietnam on this significant occasion.
PSUV Vice President for Foreign Affairs Tania Díaz affirmed that the great victory of the August Revolution – an embodiment of revolutionary heroism, the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people, and the astute leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh – has been and will forever be a beacon, guiding the struggles for independence of peoples worldwide.
Ms. Tania Díaz expressed her heartfelt sentiments, sharing that even though she has not yet visited the beloved and respected land of Vietnam, through the live broadcast of the commemoration by TELESUR, she, along with the people, progressive leftist forces of Venezuela, and the Latin American region, feel empowered and inspired by the victorious and prosperous Vietnam, a symbol of independence, freedom, dignity, and resilience.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo Member, PSUV Vice President for Mass Mobilization Nahum Fernández emphasized his deep admiration and respect for President Ho Chi Minh and the resilient, heroic spirit of Vietnam in its struggle against colonialism and imperialism for independence.
The national liberation movement led by President Ho Chi Minh not only secured a rightful position for the Vietnamese nation but also held great significance for peace-loving peoples worldwide, showing colonized nations the path to breaking the chains of slavery and achieving independence and freedom, thereby contributing to the abolition of colonialism.
Not only an outstanding leader, President Ho Chi Minh was also a brilliant military strategist who directly built and trained the People's Army of Vietnam, a victorious force with glorious achievements, “renowned across five continents, shaking the earth”, compelling formidable colonial and imperial powers to submit. His ideology serves as a guiding principle for all victories of the Vietnamese nation, especially the significant achievements in the current renewal process aimed at a wealthy people, a strong nation, and a fair, democratic, and civilized society.

For his part, Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed gratitude for the solidarity and affection that the leaders of the United Socialist Party, political parties, progressive movements, and the people of Venezuela have consistently shown towards Vietnam.
Ambassador Vu Trung My highlighted the historical significance of the August Revolution and the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, by President Ho Chi Minh, which established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He affirmed that the wise and astute leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh is the decisive factor in all victories of the Vietnamese Revolution.

On the same day, as part of the activities commemorating the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, in collaboration with the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized a wreath-laying ceremony at the National Pantheon, paying tribute to the Liberator and national hero of Venezuela, Simón Bolívar.
The ceremony was attended by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto; Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania Tatiana Pugh, along with numerous Ambassadors, Heads of diplomatic missions in Caracas, defense attachés, and local friends.

On the occasion of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, PSUV President and President Nicolas Maduro delivered a speech, published on social media, conveying congratulations to the Party, State, Government, and people of Vietnam, expressing special affection and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The message emphasized: "From the homeland of the Liberator, national hero Simón Bolívar, and Commander Hugo Chávez, we express our deep admiration and affection for the people of 'Uncle Ho', a nation with a great heroic history. Vietnam's history is an invaluable school for revolutionaries fighting for freedom, peace, and justice. The friendship and brotherhood between Venezuela and Vietnam were forged during Vietnam's struggle for independence. Both Vietnam and Venezuela begin with the letter V, which stands for 'Victory'. With determination and steadfastness, Vietnam has achieved admirable development, serving as a beacon of hope for the world through its national solidarity, fighting spirit, and high discipline."

On this occasion, Venezuelan media extensively covered President PSUV's message, President Nicolas Maduro's speech, and reports, articles, and images of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, as well as interviews with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela.

Notably, for the first time, the multinational television network TELESUR and the Central Television of Venezuela collaborated with Vietnam Television to broadcast live the entire 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, featuring commentary from renowned scholars and journalists from Venezuela and Latin America.
