On May 10, the government of Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province, south of Seoul, Republic of Korea, organized the 15th Global Cultural Festival at the City Hall Square under the theme “Experience World Traditional Weddings”.
The event also attracted the participation of numerous diplomatic missions, international organizations, and the foreign community living, studying, and working in the Republic of Korea, creating a diverse cultural exchange space rich in connectivity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Seongnam City Deputy Mayor An Gwang Lim emphasized the role of people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation in enhancing understanding and friendship among nations. He affirmed that Seongnam is a dynamic, multicultural city that always values openness, integration, and harmonious development.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea, Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh praised the Seongnam city government and the organizers for maintaining this meaningful festival for 15 years. According to her, this is not only a cultural exchange activity but also a space for connecting people through music, cuisine, traditional attire, and unique cultural stories of each country.

The Counselor affirmed that the Vietnam-Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing positively, with people-to-people and cultural exchanges continuing to serve as a bridge connecting the two nations. She emphasized that the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, now numbering over 350,000, is increasingly integrating and making practical contributions to the development of the Republic of Korea as well as the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
The 15th Global Cultural Festival was organized to commemorate International Day (May 20) and promote understanding of different cultures and traditions. The event featured a flag parade of 28 countries, awards for outstanding contributions to multicultural foreign affairs, and programs showcasing traditional wedding cultures from various nations.

A total of 38 exhibition, experience, and culinary booths were set up at the City Hall Square. The exhibition booths displayed traditional wedding cultures and attire from five countries, including the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
At the culinary booths, guests enjoyed famous dishes from 10 countries, such as Vietnam's bun cha, China's braised pork rice, Japan's yakitori, the Philippines' lumpia, Ghana's meat pie, India's samosa, and Nepal's Sel roti.
Within the festival framework, the Vietnamese booth, organized by the Vietnamese Brides Association and Vietnamese students in Seongnam City, attracted numerous visitors with various activities introducing Vietnamese culture, cuisine, and the country's image. Traditional art performances, distinctive cultural products, and many dishes rich in national identity left a positive impression on international friends and local residents.
The Seongnam Global Cultural Festival is an annual prestigious event in the Republic of Korea, attracting the participation of many foreign representative missions, thereby contributing to promoting cultural exchange, enhancing international community connections, and strengthening solidarity and friendship among nations.
Through actively participating in and promoting Vietnam's image at major international events in the Republic of Korea, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea continues to affirm its role as a bridge in promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, while supporting the Vietnamese community in integrating and playing a role as a bridge of friendship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
On the occasion of the festival, in a private exchange with Ms. Song Mun Yeong, Director of the Seongnam Multicultural Family Support Center, Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Binh expressed the hope that the Seongnam city government will continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnamese community living in the area, especially Vietnamese brides in multicultural families, to help them stabilize their lives and better integrate into the local society.
