This annual event, organized by the Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in Singapore, is one of the prominent cultural community events aimed at connecting, preserving, and spreading national culture, with a focus on heritage.
Upon entering the Embassy grounds, visitors are immediately immersed in a space that recreates the traditional Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere, featuring star lanterns, carp lanterns, drum beats, and songs about the festival.
Visitors also have the opportunity to take commemorative photos, explore booths offering small gifts emblematic of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and browse books on learning Vietnamese as a reminder to preserve the mother tongue. A variety of activities provide meaningful experiences, such as painting conical hats, decorating lanterns, face painting, and participating in traditional games like tug of war, sack jumping, and bamboo dancing.
Speaking at the festival, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in Singapore, the Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore, as well as the volunteers and sponsors in preparing and organizing a joyful, warm, and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Ambassador emphasized that this is an occasion for adults to reminisce, and also a chance to nurture memories for children, especially those born and raised in Singapore, to strengthen the bond of Vietnamese people with their homeland, no matter where they are.
