On the morning of September 24 local time, in New York, on the occasion of attending the High-Level General Debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly and conducting bilateral activities in the United States, President Luong Cuong and his spouse visited the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, engaging in friendly conversations with officials, staff of Vietnamese representative agencies, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the United States.

During the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung reported to the President and his spouse on the bilateral relations between Vietnam and the United States and the overall activities of Vietnamese representative missions in the United States.
Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Do Hung Viet reported on the Vietnam-UN relations and the mission's activities. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, reported on the implementation of technology diplomacy in the United States. Mr. Hoang Thuy Duong, Consul General of Vietnam in Houston, reported on the implementation of overseas Vietnamese affairs in the United States.
The community expressed joy and pride in the country's achievements, especially recent decisive actions by the Party, State, and Government in various fields, as they warmly welcomed President Luong Cuong and his spouse.
Community representatives reported to the President on the work of Vietnamese citizens working at the United Nations, the activities of Vietnamese associations in the United States, and proposed several suggestions and recommendations.
Accordingly, representatives of Vietnamese working at the UN Secretariat proposed that the State should support and plan training to have more Vietnamese working for UN organizations; enhance education and information in schools at various levels about the role and activities of the UN and international organizations in areas such as peacekeeping, international security, and sustainable development, to help the younger generation better understand global issues and Vietnam's participation, thereby aiding the country's strong integration and sustainable development.

Vuong Quang Tu, President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York, also representing the community of Vietnamese students in New York and nearby areas, reported to the President about the association. It is one of the largest Vietnamese communities in the United States, with hundreds of individuals studying and working at universities, research institutes, international organizations, and major enterprises. The Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York is a young, dynamic, and united community, always looking towards the homeland and eager to contribute to the country's development.
The association hopes that the Party and State leaders will continue to pay attention to the young Vietnamese intellectual community abroad by implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation into practice. They propose creating a detailed database on overseas Vietnamese human resources and experts; soon implementing support mechanisms for procedures and information on career opportunities and policies to encourage this human resource to return or contribute from afar; enhancing exchange and dialogue activities between businesses and domestic units with Vietnamese communities abroad.

Mai Zymaris, President of the East Coast Innovation Network in the United States, said that the network currently gathers thousands of members, including outstanding scientists, entrepreneurs, and technology experts in Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Silicon Valley, and many other cities. Alongside the Innovation Network is VietChallenge, the first and largest non-profit organization supporting Vietnamese startups globally, playing a core role in the network's activities.
Over 10 years, VietChallenge has accompanied more than 800 startups, contributing to affirming Vietnamese intelligence on the global innovation map, raising tens of millions of USD, and creating bridges with leading corporations and investment funds in the United States.
Continuing to be a bridge to promote Vietnam-U.S. Relations
Kindly inquiring about the officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the United States, President Luong Cuong expressed joy and emotion at the warm sentiments of the community. He thanked the thoughtful reception, efforts in preparation, and close coordination of the Mission to the UN and other Vietnamese representative missions in the United States for the visit.

Highlighting that the United States is a strategically important partner for Vietnam and New York City is where Vietnam conducts many important multilateral foreign activities, especially at the United Nations and international organizations, the President emphasized that Vietnam-U.S. relations are deepening and developing comprehensively in all fields, especially after the two countries upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Meanwhile, cooperation between Vietnam and the United Nations has also achieved substantial results.

The President affirmed that Vietnam's reputation and position in the eyes of international friends are increasingly high, as evidenced by Vietnam being trusted to be elected to many important positions and bodies of the United Nations. These successes are partly due to the significant contributions of all officials, staff of representative missions, and our overseas compatriots in the United States.
Reflecting on some key aspects of the domestic situation and the achievements made in recent times, the President pointed out that the country is entering a new era, opening up new opportunities while also requiring new momentum for Vietnam to further rise and stand shoulder to shoulder with other nations.
Emphasizing that overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part, a vital part of the great national unity bloc, and an important resource for the country, the President affirmed the consistent policy of our Party and State is to always care for the overseas Vietnamese community.

The President hopes that the Vietnamese community in the United States will continue to contribute to their homeland, whether directly by returning or indirectly from afar; whether through capital, experience, intellect, or persistent, silent efforts to preserve the Vietnamese language and promote cultural identity in the host country; continuing to play a crucial role in promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States.
On this occasion, the President commended the efforts of the collective officials and staff of representative missions in implementing foreign affairs tasks while always paying attention to community work.

The President urged the representative missions to continue to promote foreign affairs, identifying it as a crucial and regular task in the construction, development, and safeguarding the Fatherland in the new era; to enhance research and advisary task to the Party and State on effective and appropriate policies; to continue doing well in community work; to pay attention and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of overseas compatriots; to create all favourable conditions to support the Vietnamese community in the United States to continue to grow and successfully integrate into the host country.
