On the afternoon of May 31, during the State visit to the Philippines, in the capital Manila, General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with the staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community, businesses, and experts in the Philippines.
At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh expressed his delight in welcoming General Secretary, President To Lam and his spouse, along with our high-level delegation; emphasizing that this visit holds historical significance, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and marks the first official meeting of the highest leaders of both nations.
The Ambassador noted that the Vietnamese community in the Philippines remains united and industrious, increasingly participating in trade, education, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The community always looks towards their homeland, preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural identity, actively seeking opportunities to contribute positively to the nation's development goals through activities that connect and support businesses from both countries in finding business opportunities.
In the warm and friendly atmosphere of the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines expressed their joy at the country's achievements in innovation and development and their desire to contribute through their professional expertise, personal reputation, and job positions.
The community hopes that strengthening cooperation between the two countries can create a favorable policy corridor for businesses, especially Vietnamese enterprises in the Philippines.
General Secretary, President To Lam commended the efforts of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines in integrating into the local society, preserving cultural identity, and engaging in activities that promote economic and trade relations between the two countries; he welcomed the connecting and supportive role of the Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in the Philippines.
The General Secretary, President shared the country's development orientations and socio-economic development solutions, promoting high economic growth to enhance self-reliance and resilience, continuously improving the people's living standards.
The General Secretary, President reported some notable outcomes from the visit to Thailand and Singapore, highlighting Vietnam's keynote speech at the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on May 29, which garnered international attention and underscored Vietnam's increasingly prominent role in the region.

Through this, Vietnam affirms its strong rise after more than 80 years of building and developing, and 40 years of Doi Moi (Renewal), becoming one of the dynamic, fast-growing economies, a nation with credibility and responsibility in regional and global issues.
Regarding Vietnam-Philippines relations, the General Secretary, President emphasized that Vietnam is currently the only Strategic Partner of the Philippines in Southeast Asia.
In recent times, bilateral relations have developed strongly across various fields. The two countries are striving to boost bilateral trade cooperation, aiming to soon achieve a trade exchange turnover of 10 billion USD to exploit the still open cooperation potentials.
The General Secretary, President affirmed that the Party and State consistently view the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community; always caring, promptly implementing policies to support the overseas Vietnamese community, helping them secure a stable legal status, integrate into the local society; solidifying the national unity bloc; encouraging and facilitating the community to actively contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Recently, several policies have been revised to facilitate overseas Vietnamese in investing, studying, researching, starting businesses, teaching Vietnamese, transferring knowledge, and participating in cultural and people-to-people diplomacy activities.
The top leader hopes that the Vietnamese community in the Philippines will continue to unite, support each other in integration, comply with local laws, actively participate in activities, and make practical contributions to the homeland and promote friendly relations between the two countries.
The General Secretary, President urged the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to continue paying attention and improving its work with overseas Vietnamese, regularly connecting with the community, maintaining and strengthening the connection between the community and the homeland, encouraging compliance with local laws, effectively conducting citizen protection work, and actively supporting community activities.
