Vietnam-Japan celebrate two years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Attendees included Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki; leaders from central and local departments, ministries, and sectors; along with numerous representatives from Japanese organizations, associations, and business communities operating in Vietnam.
In his congratulatory remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van emphasized that although two years is not a long period in the over 50-year diplomatic journey between Vietnam and Japan, the high political determination and close coordination have marked significant, substantive, and effective progress in bilateral relations.
Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van recalled the speech by Politburo Member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum in November 2025, highlighting five prominent new features of the bilateral relationship: New cooperation mechanisms; establishment of new pillars in science-technology and human resource training; promotion of cooperation in digital transformation and green transition; increased new investment flows from Vietnam to Japan, especially in IT; and expansion of cooperation to global issues.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that as both Vietnam and Japan are at pivotal moments with new beginnings and development aspirations, this is the "golden time" for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to deepen, become more substantive and effective.
Under the leadership of General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam is striving to become a developed, high-income country by 2045 and is preparing for the 14th Party Congress. Meanwhile, Japan, led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, is vigorously promoting reform, innovation, and growth recovery. In its foreign policy, Vietnam always regards Japan as a top, long-term strategic partner and a trustworthy, sincere friend.
Amidst the complex developments in the world and regional situations, the Deputy Minister is confident that the deep political trust and shared strategic vision will continue to be the foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation, contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed delight at the outstanding cooperation results since the relationship was upgraded in 2023. The Ambassador emphasized that the political trust between the two countries has been increasingly strengthened; high-level visits and contacts are maintained regularly, creating significant momentum for comprehensive cooperation.
The Ambassador noted that economic and investment ties remain a highlight in the bilateral relationship, evidenced by many Japanese corporations and businesses expanding their investments in Vietnam, accompanying in strategic infrastructure deployment, processing-manufacturing industries, innovation, and enhancing competitiveness.
Affirming that Vietnam is always a central partner in Japan's foreign policy, the Ambassador expressed a desire to closely coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to effectively promote new cooperation mechanisms; while also expanding into potential areas such as digital transformation, green transition, science-technology, high-quality human resource training, and local cooperation.
Ambassador Ito Naoki is confident that with the foundation of deep trust, shared strategic vision, and strong support from the governments, businesses, and people of both countries, the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop substantively, contributing positively to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
