According to AKC, this year's event is seen as a crucial foundation for realizing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between ASEAN and South Korea – a vision set forth by President Lee Jae Myung to promote comprehensive cooperation in culture, economy, and communication.
The event also continues the spirit of the recent ASEAN-South Korea Summit held in Malaysia at the end of October.
ASEAN Week 2025 includes four main programs: the inauguration of 10 ASEAN benches along the Jeju Olle Trail, the ASEAN Journalist Invitation Program, the ASEAN-Korea Media Forum, and the ASEAN Trade Fair 2025.
The event kicks off at the Parnas Hotel Jeju on November 11 with the inauguration of 10 benches symbolizing the 10 ASEAN countries, installed along Jeju Olle Trail No.8 – ASEAN-Korea Olle, commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Korea dialogue relations.
The ceremony, hosted by the AKC in collaboration with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Olle Foundation, gathers around 100 delegates, including ASEAN Ambassadors to South Korea, Jeju provincial leaders, and representatives from regional media outlets.
As part of ASEAN Week 2025, the ASEAN Journalist Invitation Program takes place from November 11-15, with 20 journalists from 10 Southeast Asian countries participating, nominated by ASEAN Embassies in Seoul and the Asia News Network (ANN). The journalists will cover, interview, and interact with South Korean officials, ASEAN Ambassadors, while exploring activities during ASEAN Week in Seoul, Jeju, and Ilsan.
Simultaneously, on November 12, the ASEAN-Korea Media Forum, organized by AKC in collaboration with the Korea Press Foundation, will discuss two key topics: “The Future of the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” and “ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange: K-Culture as a Bridge.”
From November 13-16, the ASEAN Trade Fair 2025 will be held at KINTEX 2 Exhibition Center (Ilsan), featuring 80 food and beverage (F&B) companies from ASEAN countries. Notably, Vietnam has the largest presence of companies.
The event showcases regional specialties such as kaya jam, coffee, biscuits, chocolates, and dried fruits, along with B2B meetings to expand trade cooperation opportunities between ASEAN businesses and Korean importers.
Since its inception in 2019, ASEAN Week has become an annual highlight connecting culture, economy, and people between ASEAN and South Korea. This year, the program not only celebrates the 35-year friendship between the two sides but also marks a new development in realizing the goals of the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for a peaceful, cooperative, and prosperous East Asia.
AKC Secretary-General Kim Jae-shin emphasized: “ASEAN Week 2025 is an opportunity for leaders, businesses, and journalists from ASEAN and South Korea to meet, exchange, and collaborate more deeply. We expect this year's event to contribute to promoting practical cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding, and strengthening trust between the two regions".
