Of these, 92,291 houses have been completed, while construction has begun on 96,952 new ones. The total includes 18,024 homes for people who rendered service to the revolution, 64,900 under two national target programmes, and 106,319 as part of a campaign on elimination of substandard houses.
In the Mekong Delta, 13 localities have contributed significantly, removing 40,128 substandard homes, including 6,856 completed.
Six additional provinces—Lang Son, Hau Giang, Binh Phuoc, Ben Tre, Son La and Dong Nai—have recently reorganised their provincial steering committees to accelerate the progress.
These efforts are part of the nationwide emulation movement “Joining Hands to Eliminate Makeshift and Dilapidated Homes by 2025,” launched by the Prime Minister. Authorities from central to local levels are showing strong commitment to meeting this target.
