On the occasion of the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s official visit to Vietnam from April 20-24, Dr. Minh told Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Prague that the trip will bring about new hopes for the two countries that share a common goal of sustainable development and settlement of challenges in climate change and environmental downgrade.

With its advanced technologies and high capacity in environmental management, the Czech Republic can support Vietnam in these fields, while Vietnam, with rich natural resources and biodiversity, can provide opportunities for the Czech Republic to develop innovation solutions serving sustainable growth, he said.

The sides can also cooperate in other areas such as waste management, renewable energy and green transport, he said, explaining that with a increasing population and urbanisation rate, Vietnam is facing big challenges in waste management, water pollution and downgrading air quality, for which the Czech Republic can provide technical assistance in enhancing Vietnam’s capacity.

Dr. Minh underlined that renewable energy is a promising area for bilateral cooperation, as advanced technologies in solar and wind power of the Czech Republic will be helpful for Vietnam in completing its ambitious goals in the field.

The two countries can also work together to develop green transport solutions, such as electric vehicles and public transport systems, to reduce emissions and improve air quality in urban areas, Dr. Minh said.

The scholar underscored the high potential for Vietnam and the Czech Republic to partner in education to optimise the Czech Republic’s strengths in education and post-graduate research.

Dr. Minh said he believes that the Czech Prime Minister’s visit will open up a new win-win cooperation era for the two sides, enabling them to work together in dealing with pressing challenges of sustainable development and building a brighter future for the two peoples.
