The service is expected to facilitate travel and tourism while creating further opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries.
Attending the welcoming ceremony for the inaugural flight at Václav Havel Airport Prague were Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam, representatives from Vietjet Air, and airport officials.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that the new route is not merely an air connection, but also opens a new “bridge” between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. The Ambassador stated that the route was inaugurated in the context of a dynamically developing Strategic Partnership between the two countries across various fields, from politics, trade, and investment to tourism, education, science and technology, culture, and people-to-people exchange.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam noted that more convenient connectivity will help Czech citizens travel to Vietnam for tourism, business, study, and cultural exploration, while also facilitating the large Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to visit their homeland for family and work. The route is also expected to boost business meetings, expand business networks, and create more opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam highly appreciated Vietjet Air's decision to operate the route and thanked the leadership of Václav Havel Airport Prague and the agencies and partners of both countries for coordinating to bring the route into operation.
The Ambassador expressed confidence that the route will contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-Czech Strategic Partnership, not only at the government level but also through the connection and understanding between the peoples of the two countries. In the initial phase, the flight will have a technical stop in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and the Ambassador hopes this issue will be resolved in the coming months.
| Vietjet Air operates the Prague-Hanoi route with a frequency of two flights per week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with a capacity of 377 passengers. The aircraft departs from Prague every Tuesday and Saturday at 20:55, arriving in Hanoi at 16:20 the following day (local time). On the return leg, the flight leaves Hanoi at 8:25 and arrives in Prague at 18:55. The journey includes a stop in Almaty. |
According to Prague Airport, the route is expected to serve over 67,000 passengers in its first year of operation. Last year, more than 75,000 people traveled both ways between Prague and Hanoi, mainly through connecting flights at international aviation hubs.
Mr. Josef Trejbal, Business Director of the ticketing site Letuška.cz, noted that the air connection with Vietnam meets a long-standing demand in the Czech market. The demand is expected to come from tourists, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, and business travelers.
Round-trip fares from Prague to Hanoi start at 18,000 koruna (CZK, approximately 830 USD); passengers can also purchase separate tickets for the Prague-Almaty leg at a lower price.
Prague is Vietjet Air's first destination in Europe. Through the airline's network, passengers can continue their journey to over 40 other destinations in Asia. The new route is expected to enhance tourist exchanges, facilitate business activities, and expand cooperative relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
