In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that this is an occasion to reflect on the 80-year journey of struggle for independence, nation-building, and development, while affirming the strong bond between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
“We can take pride in our achievements, but more importantly, we look to the future with confidence and aspiration,” Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam highlighted.
Ambassador Nam reviewed the outstanding achievements of nearly four decades of Doi Moi (Renewal), during which Vietnam has maintained rapid and sustainable growth, aiming to become one of the world's top 20 economies; expanded trade relations with over 220 partners, collaborated with 500 international organizations; and signed 17 Free Trade Agreements, including the EVFTA with the European Union, a strategically significant agreement connecting Vietnam with the European market.
Regarding bilateral relations, the year 2025 is seen as a special milestone as the two countries officially elevate their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Prague earlier this year. This is an important step further, opening up prospects for more comprehensive and deeper cooperation, based on traditional friendship, political trust, and effective collaboration in various fields.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam expressed hope for the early establishment of a direct flight route between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, viewing it as a significant opportunity to boost trade exchanges, tourism, and enhance people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.

Expressing optimism about the future of bilateral relations, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Hynek Kmoníček emphasized that elevating the relationship to a Strategic Partnership is a testament to the close ties, while appreciating Vietnam's 45-day visa exemption policy for Czech citizens - a factor facilitating tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Ambassador Kmoníček took pride in the fact that SKODA cars are manufactured right in Vietnam, or when Vietnamese pilots fly Czech L-39 aircraft over Hanoi's skies during the National Day celebration.
Ambassador Hynek Kmoníček is confident that a direct Hanoi-Prague flight route will soon be established, contributing to effectively leveraging the visa exemption policy and bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together.
