| Vietnam-Cuba agricultural cooperation: The delegation meets with the Cuban Minister of Agriculture. |
The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba coordinated with the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture to arrange meetings with leaders from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Food Industry, Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, and the Labiofam Biotechnology Group. They also conducted field visits to joint projects in rice production and aquaculture in the provinces of Pinar del Rio and Matanzas.
During the meetings, both sides highly valued the achievements of the rice production development cooperation project – a key area of collaboration that has been continuously implemented since 2002, yielding positive results and significantly contributing to Cuba's food security.
Additionally, Cuba's ministries and related agencies discussed with the Vietnamese side plans to expand cooperation into other areas such as hybrid corn, livestock, animal feed production, veterinary medicine, and aquaculture. Both parties candidly addressed challenges in rice production and food supply in Cuba, particularly issues related to energy shortages, electricity, supply of production materials, and administrative and import procedures.
Importantly, both sides agreed to consider enterprises as the main force in the next phase, aiming to leverage the results of research cooperation, technology transfer, and management between the two governments over the years.

Vietnamese enterprises are encouraged to invest in Cuba in projects related to rice cultivation, aquaculture, livestock and poultry farming, research, and production of biological products. They are also urged to establish a supply market for input materials for Cuban farmers, contributing to enhancing agricultural production capacity and gradually reducing Cuba's dependence on imports.
On this occasion, Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment presented the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture with 5,000 doses of bovine semen to support Cuba's livestock sector in improving breeds and enhancing production efficiency.
The visit of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment delegation to Cuba once again affirmed the determination of the leaders and peoples of both countries to strengthen the traditional friendship, special cooperation, and enduring solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba. It also builds on the results of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cuba (September 2024) and First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel's visit to Vietnam (September 2025), opening a new phase of more substantive and effective cooperation in agriculture and food production.
