Vietnam Consulate General assumes role as rotating Chair of ASEAN Consular Corps in China's Guangzhou
WVR - On December 22, at the headquarters of the Thai Consulate General in Guangzhou, Thai Consul General Kajtiti Wiwatwanont officially handed over the role of Rotating Chair of the ASEAN Consular Corps in Guangzhou (China) to Vietnamese Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung.

The handover ceremony was attended by representatives of ASEAN member countries, marking a new phase in ASEAN's activities in Guangzhou.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Guangzhou Nguyễn Việt Dũng expressed gratitude and appreciation for Consul General Kajtiti Wiwatwanont and the Thai Consulate General for coordinating ASEAN activities in recent times, including organizing the 58th anniversary of ASEAN's founding (8/8/1967-8/8/2025).
Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung also committed that, as the Chair of the ASEAN Consular Corps in Guangzhou, Vietnam will lead joint activities of the bloc to enhance cooperation and understanding with Guangdong Province in general and its cities, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, which will host significant APEC 33 events as China assumes the role of host country in 2026.

On this occasion, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung extended warmest congratulations to the Consuls General of ASEAN countries and all members of the "ASEAN Family" in Guangzhou on the occasion of welcoming the Year of the Horse - 2026.
Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung also expressed the desire for continued cooperation from the Consulates General of ASEAN member countries throughout Vietnam's tenure as Chair of the ASEAN Consular Corps in Guangzhou.
