Vietnam affirms its role in the Francophone Community: Deputy FM Dang Hoang Giang
WVR - On October 22, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang received Mr. Rigobert Pinga-Pinga, the newly appointed Representative of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) for the Asia-Pacific region.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang congratulated Mr. Rigobert Pinga-Pinga on his appointment as the OIF Representative for the Asia-Pacific region; he affirmed that Vietnam always values cooperation with the Francophone Community and supports OIF's efforts in promoting peace, solidarity, cooperation, and development. The Deputy Minister appreciated the cooperation results between Vietnam and OIF in recent times, especially in the fields of education, French language teaching, Francophone economic cooperation, and sustainable development. He suggested that OIF continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to effectively implement cooperation programs that align with Vietnam's needs and priorities; emphasizing the promotion of scientific and technological cooperation, business connectivity, trade promotion, investment, and expanding cooperation with Francophone member countries, particularly in Africa.
Discussing future cooperation directions, the Deputy Minister emphasized that in the context of complex international developments, the Francophone Community needs to further promote its role in fostering dialogue, building trust, maintaining peace, and addressing common challenges; while also enhancing economic, educational, scientific-technological cooperation, and sustainable development, contributing to building a solid foundation for common peace and prosperity.

As an active and responsible member of the Francophone Community, Vietnam wishes to seize the opportunity of the 20th Francophone Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to promote several practical initiatives with other members, contributing to strengthening peace, stability, and common prosperity in the Francophone space. The Deputy Minister suggested that OIF and the regional office coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to research, discuss, and promote these initiatives, thereby enhancing Vietnam's role and contributions to the Francophone Community.
Mr. Rigobert Pinga-Pinga highly appreciated Vietnam's role, position, and positive contributions to the Francophone Community, expressing support for promoting initiatives for peace, stability, and common prosperity, while affirming that OIF is ready to coordinate in researching and promoting these initiatives. Impressed by Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, he emphasized that Vietnam increasingly asserts its role as an active member and reliable partner of the international community, affirming readiness to continue promoting cooperation between OIF and Vietnam in the future.
| Mr. Rigobert Pinga Pinga, a Cameroonian national, is a senior manager at OIF with over 28 years of experience working in leading international organizations, in both the public and private sectors. He was appointed as the Representative of the OIF Regional Office since September 2026. |
