Vietnam, China Defense Ministers meet at border for friendship exchange activities

The 10th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange is taking place from March 18-19 in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.
The Vietnamese delegation, led by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, along with the Chinese delegation led by General Dong Jun, Chinese Minister of Defense, participated in activities organized in Vietnam on March 18 and in China on March 19.

At the Mong Cai International Border Gate, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang welcomed his counterpart, Chinese Defense Minister General Dong Jun, to participate in the Exchange activities.
On March 18, main activities include: Welcoming ceremony for Minister Dong Jun at the Mong Cai international border gate (demarcation line on Bac Luan Bridge 1); the two Defence Ministers planting a friendship tree at the Mong Cai international border gate, attending the groundbreaking ceremony of Hai Son Commune Health Station, visiting Tran Phu High School, visiting Tra Co Border Guard Station, and holding an important meeting; Farewell ceremony for the Chinese delegation at the Mong Cai international border gate (Bac Luan Bridge 2).

In China, the main activities scheduled for March 19 include: Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation at the Dongxing international border gate; the two ministers visiting the Border Defense Company and planting a friendship tree there; Launching joint patrol and training in the Gulf of Tonkin; visiting the Memorial Stele and the wall displaying contents related to the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea; visiting local enterprises; laying wreaths to commemorate the Vietnamese-Chinese People's Revolutionary Martyrs; Farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation at the Dongxing international border gate.

A highlight of this Exchange program is the joint patrol and training in the Gulf of Tonkin between the naval forces of the two countries.
The Navy has dispatched a fleet consisting of two ships, 015 Tran Hung Dao and 012 Ly Thai To, from Brigade 162 (Naval Region 4) to participate in the joint patrol and training with the Chinese Navy.

The Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange is a significant defense diplomacy activity, held annually in border areas of the two countries. It has been expanding in both scale and depth, with diverse and meaningful activities.
This program holds great political significance, receiving support from leaders at all levels, consensus from the people of both countries, and international attention. Through each exchange, Vietnam-China defense cooperation has made positive strides, deepening the relationship between the two countries and their militaries.
