Vietnam and China convene 12th Land Border Joint Committee session in Lao Cai
WVR - From November 4-5, the 12th Session of the Vietnam-China Land Border Joint Committee (LB JC) took place in Lao Cai Ward, Lao Cai Province.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Chairman of the National Boundary Commission Trinh Duc Hai, under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and Chairman of the Vietnamese Sub-committee in the Land Border Joint Committee. The Chinese delegation was headed by Mr. Zhào Lìjiān, Deputy Director of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and Chairman of the Chinese Sub-committee in the Land Border Joint Committee.
Representatives from various ministries, sectors, and localities, members of the Sub-committees from both sides, also attended the session. The meeting took place in a friendly, sincere, frank, and mutual understanding atmosphere.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the activities of the Joint Committee since the 11th Session in November 2024. They agreed that the Agreement on Land Border Management between Vietnam and China has been effectively implemented. The Joint Committee mechanism has operated smoothly, achieving many positive outcomes thanks to the close and coordinated efforts of both parties.
Both sides highly appreciated the effective and substantial cooperation in directing functional forces of the two countries to collaborate efficiently in border management and protection. They approved several border projects and actively promoted the opening and upgrading of border gates and crossings, enhancing transportation connectivity across the border. This has contributed to strengthening friendly exchanges and economic-social development cooperation in the border area between the two countries, as well as positively contributing to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.

The two sides also engaged in extensive discussions in a spirit of friendship and cooperation on key areas of mutual interest.
They agreed on the key tasks to be implemented in the near future to meet the requirements of border management and protection and to promote development cooperation in the new context.

The 12th Session of the UBLH concluded successfully with both parties signing the Minutes and agreeing to hold the 13th Session in China in 2026.
