Ta Van Village is located in the commune of the same name within Sa Pa Town (Lao Cai Province). The village is nestled against the mountains, facing the dreamy Muong Hoa Valley. The name "Ta Van" translates to "a large curve", aptly describing the area.
The rice season in Sa Pa lasts from around mid-August until October, making this period the perfect time for visitors to admire the golden terraces in Ta Van. This is also when the village is at its most vibrant. Mornings in Ta Van are a serene experience; when sipping a cup of tea while gazing at the distant rice terraces that are in full bloom, it feels as if time slows down.
The golden hue of the ripening rice, coupled with the soothing aroma of the highland air, creates a sense of peace and calm. Watching the clouds and enjoying the gentle breeze rustling through the rice fields gives visitors the feeling that time has paused in this tranquil setting.
Ta Van also offers a beautiful riverside camping coffee area. Visitors are encouraged to go trekking around the village and then relax with a coffee afterward. Other activities include camping, with accommodations available from 50,000 VND per person; statue painting; herbal foot baths; and roasting marshmallows in the evening.
In addition to admiring the majestic rice terraces, visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture of the H’Mong, Dao, Tay, and Giay ethnic groups, which are known for their simplicity and warmth. Exploring deeper into the village reveals the daily life of the locals, with their moss-covered houses that seem to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The hospitality and straightforwardness of the people are further charming aspects that makes visitors long for a return visit.
