Vietnamese community in the UK welcomes the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 ​

WVR - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, on January 31, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Kingdom organized a New Year Gathering attended by over 300 Vietnamese expatriates, international friends, and representatives from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Department for International Trade, and Ministry of Defence; Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN countries, China, India, Russia, Cuba, Honduras, among others.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Do Minh Hung informed the expatriates about Vietnam's significant achievements in socio-economic development and foreign relations in 2025, as well as the important outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress.

The Ambassador emphasized that the Party and State always value and provide numerous support policies for the overseas Vietnamese community — an inseparable part of the national unity bloc.

Ambassador Do Minh Hung also praised the rapid and comprehensive development of the Vietnam–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across all fields, particularly in new and promising areas such as science and technology, finance, education, and innovation.

The Ambassador recognized the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in the UK in fostering bilateral relations and expressed his hope that they would continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, preserve cultural identity, and integrate well into the local society.

International friends highly appreciated the event's significance in fostering unity and connection, expressing deep impressions of the strong community spirit of the Vietnamese in the UK, considering it a vivid testament to the Vietnamese people's homeland-oriented spirit.

The New Year Gathering of the Year of the Horse 2026 was further enlivened by vibrant and warm spring performances, presented by the Vietnamese community, students in the UK, and artists from the Vietnam Cultural Center in France.

The traditional culinary feast, featuring familiar Tet dishes, offered attendees a rich experience of Vietnamese cultural identity.
