After completing safety instructions, the helicopter gradually accelerated, its rotors spinning vigorously before gently lifting off the ground.

The Ho Chi Minh City helicopter tour will operate regularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with two flight slots at 9 AM and 3 PM. The tour offers four routes.

As one of the passengers on the first flight, Ms Hoang Tuyet from Ho Chi Minh City shared that although she has visited Vung Tau many times, this was her first time seeing the city from above.

“The flight lasted only about 15 minutes, but was very special. When the helicopter flew along Bai Sau, you could clearly see the curve of the coastline embracing the city before circling Nghinh Phong Cape. The view was beautiful and impressive,” Ms Tuyet said.

Mr Nguyen Ngoc An, Deputy General Director of Vietluxtour Company, stated that the helicopter tour is a new tourism product that the company is collaborating with operators to bring to the market. With a flight time of about 15 minutes over Vung Tau and central Ho Chi Minh City, tourists can observe the entire city and coastal areas from above, offering a different experience from traditional tours.

According to Mr An, in the initial phase, the company will develop specific product packages to introduce to the market. The initial customer base will focus on Ho Chi Minh City, then expand to other domestic markets such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and some localities, including the Mekong Delta region.

A New Experience Product for Tourism

Although the flight time is only about 15 minutes, the helicopter offers a completely different view of the coastal city, with familiar landmarks growing larger and more vibrant from the sky.

The return of the helicopter tour after years of procedural delays is expected to add a premium experiential tourism product, enriching the area's tourism activities and opening up the possibility of connecting sightseeing flights between Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City in the future.

On the opening day of the flight, tourist Ho Nguyen Hoang Hung shared that viewing the city from a helicopter offers a completely new perspective. According to him, from above, one can clearly observe the intersection of sea, forest, and urban areas, creating a unique overall picture.

Mr Tran Thanh Vu, General Director of Vinagroup Company, stated that the company has been researching and conducting test flights since 2022 to develop the helicopter tour over Ho Chi Minh City and coastal areas.

In the initial phase, the flights are deployed to gauge market demand. After assessing operational conditions, the program will temporarily pause to refine the product before the official launch.

The company hopes the helicopter tour will become a new highlight of tourism in Ho Chi Minh City and coastal areas, meeting the increasingly diverse experiential needs of both domestic and international tourists. Currently, the ticket price for a 15-minute scenic flight is about 2.9 million VND per guest; longer journeys will have corresponding prices.
