The gold was won by Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik at the previous SEA Games.
Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, both 22 years old and at 44th place in the world rankings, are selected to represent Malaysia at the upcoming regional sporting event in the absence of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who will be playing in the Thomas Cup in Bangkok, Thailand from May 8-15.
Local media quoted Kai Wun as saying that he was excited at making his debut in the biennial games and was making thorough preparations for the competition, including honing his techniques and building physical endurance.
According to the young player, world number 21 Pramudya Kusumawardana - Yeremia Erich and number 24 Leo Rolly Carnando - Daniel Marthin, both from Indonesia, would be the main hurdles to the gold medal. Wei Chong also expects a tough time in their search for gold but vowed to give a scintillating display to justify the faith of coaches and fans.
The 31st SEA Games will take place in Viet Nam from May 8-23.
