On June 6 in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province, the Provincial People’s Committee Office, in coordination with the National Boundary Commission under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Quang Binh Border Guard Command, held a conference to raise awareness on land and maritime border issues for officials and residents in border areas.
At the event, representatives from the National Boundary Commission and the Quang Binh Border Guard briefed participants on key topics, including: an overview of the Vietnam–Laos land border and the border between Quang Binh and the Lao provinces of Khammouan and Savannakhet; the current situation in the East Sea; maritime boundaries in Quang Binh; Party guidelines and State policies and laws on land and maritime borders; and the roles and responsibilities of individuals and organizations in defending national territorial sovereignty. The session also reviewed recent progress in Vietnam–Laos border management and maritime cooperation, and outlined priorities for the current phase.
The conference aimed to equip participants—particularly village elders, local leaders, and fishermen—with essential knowledge for border and maritime management, fostering greater consensus and mobilizing public support for safeguarding border markers and national sovereignty. The initiative contributes to building a peaceful, stable, and cooperative border and maritime region.
