Quy Nhon receives 'ASEAN clean tourist city' title for the third time

At the 45th ASEAN Tourism Forum, Quy Nhon (Gia Lai province) was once again honored as the “ASEAN clean tourist city 2026”, reaffirming its persistent efforts in developing tourism alongside environmental protection and green urban spaces.

Within the framework of the 45th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations organized the ASEAN Tourism Awards 2026 to recognize localities and entities with outstanding contributions to the region's sustainable tourism development.

At the event, Quy Nhon, Gia Lai province, was honored with the “ASEAN clean tourist city 2026” award. This marks the third time this coastal city has received the title, following previous recognitions in 2020 and 2024.

The “ASEAN clean tourist city 2026” is one of the key categories of the ASEAN Tourism Awards, alongside categories such as ASEAN green hotel, ASEAN MICE venue, and Sustainable tourism product.

These awards aim to acknowledge localities and facilities that meet stringent criteria in environmental management, green space development, urban safety assurance, and enhancement of tourism service quality.

According to Ms. Do Thi Dieu Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Gia Lai province, to maintain this title in the future, the locality will focus on implementing comprehensive solutions for sustainable tourism development.

The emphasis will be on redefining the province's tourism map, strictly adhering to ASEAN's environmental protection regulations, and strengthening connections with international tourist markets to Gia Lai.

In addition, Gia Lai province will prioritize effectively organizing the National Tourism Year, particularly cultural and tourism events of regional and international significance held in the area.

Continuing to uphold the "ASEAN clean tourist city" title not only reinforces the reputation and image of Quy Nhon in the region but also serves as a crucial impetus for Gia Lai province to develop a green, environmentally friendly tourism model, aiming for the successful organization of the National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026.

The ASEAN Tourism Awards is an annual event organized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to honor high-quality tourism products, services, and destinations, thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable tourism development and the tourism brand of countries in the region.
