For Quang Ngai, external affairs are increasingly seen as a bridge to expand the space for international integration, bringing the province's potential and advantages closer to the international community while effectively attracting resources for sustainable development.

After the merger of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum, the new Quang Ngai Province now boasts a larger scale of development in both geographical space and international integration potential. Currently, the province has 96 administrative units at the commune level, including 86 communes, 9 wards, and 1 special zone, with a natural area of nearly 15,000 km² and a population of over 2.1 million people from 43 ethnic groups.
The province has a coastline of about 130 km, a territorial sea area of nearly 11,000 km², and 6 seaports with rich potential for fisheries exploitation, economic development, and marine tourism. Notably, Quang Ngai has a 292.913 km land border adjoining Laos and Cambodia, creating regional connectivity advantages. The area currently hosts the Dung Quat Economic Zone in the East and the Bo Y International Border Gate Economic Zone in the West - two key growth poles located on the East-West Economic Corridor, serving as a bridge between Vietnam and Laos, Cambodia, and countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
The province's economic foundation continues to grow positively. In the first six months of 2026, the GRDP is estimated to reach 77,110.36 billion VND; of which, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector reached 12,189.74 billion VND, the industry-construction sector reached 30,264.2 billion VND, and the services sector reached 24,109.27 billion VND.

External affairs accompanying development
During the 2023-2026 period, under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of the province, Quang Ngai's foreign affairs work was implemented comprehensively, closely following the foreign policy of the Party and State, tightly linked with the tasks of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, security, and enhancing the province's position in the process of international integration. Following the 21 st National Foreign Affairs Conference, Quang Ngai proactively concretised many central policies, resolutions, and directives on foreign affairs; issued programs and plans to improve state management efficiency in the field of foreign affairs, ensuring consistency in the implementation of foreign activities in the area.
A notable highlight is the continued strict and regulated management of outgoing and incoming delegations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with practical requirements. These activities contribute to strengthening cooperative relations between Quang Ngai and international localities and partners, while promoting the province's land, people, and development potential.
Quang Ngai has also organised 4 provincial-level international conferences and seminars and authorised 15 agencies and units to organise such events within their respective authorities. These events focus on evaluating cooperation results, promoting investment, and exchanging development experiences, thereby continuing to expand the partner network and laying the foundation for many new cooperation programs.
The expansion of the international cooperation network is also a noteworthy highlight. Building on traditional friendship relations with localities in Laos and Cambodia, Quang Ngai continues to expand cooperation with many partners in the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, France, Israel, Cuba, India, and more. Since 2023, the province has signed 4 international cooperation agreements with partners from 3 countries, ensuring compliance with the Law on International Agreements and aligning with the province's development orientation.
These agreements go beyond the framework of signing and are implemented through various specific cooperation programs in education, healthcare, small-scale infrastructure development, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. This contributes to deepening bilateral cooperation and creates a favourable environment for businesses on both sides to seek investment opportunities.

Driving force for international integration
In recent years, Quang Ngai has shifted strongly toward a development-oriented diplomacy model, with economic diplomacy as the focus. The province has implemented comprehensive solutions to improve the investment environment, enhance competitiveness, promptly resolve difficulties faced by businesses, and strengthen investment promotion at domestic and international forums.
Through events such as the National Halal Conference, Korea-Vietnam ICT Cooperation Conference, business meetings with Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, and cooperation forums in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle area, Quang Ngai proactively introduces the province's potential and advantages to international investors.
The province also maintains cooperative relations with many reputable investment promotion organisations and Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad to expand its business network. These efforts have yielded positive results. Since 2023, Quang Ngai has granted 15 new FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 558 million USD, an increase of 125% in the number of projects and 167% in total investment capital compared to the 2020-2022 period. The projects are primarily concentrated in the Dung Quat Economic Zone and industrial zones, especially VSIP Quang Ngai, with the participation of investors from the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong (China), and China.
The province also focuses on attracting foreign non governmental aid. Since 2023, 97 non-refundable aid projects with a total committed value of approximately 14.072 million USD have been implemented in the area, focusing on healthcare, education, social welfare, and community development. These resources contribute to improving residents' quality of life, especially in remote areas and among ethnic minorities.

The coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organise a Press delegation to survey the Sa Huynh Cultural Special National Relic has contributed to promoting the value of Sa Huynh Culture to international friends, aiming to build a nomination dossier for UNESCO recognition as a World Cultural Heritage in the future. Additionally, external information work is increasingly being implemented professionally. Consular work and citizen protection are also carried out effectively. Creating new attractions for investors Quang Ngai possesses many advantages that make it a growth pole in the Central region.
The province is located on the North-South transfort corridor, with a comprehensive transportation infrastructure system, connecting roads, railways, sea routes, and airways via the deep water Dung Quat Port, National Highway 1, the North-South Expressway to the East, and Chu Lai Airport in the neighbouring area.
Notably, the Dung Quat Economic Zone plays a leading role in the province's development, with advantages in heavy industry, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, logistics, and energy. Meanwhile, VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Park has become a destination for many international corporations in processing, manufacturing, and supporting industries, contributing to the formation of a modern production ecosystem and deeper participation in the global supply chain.
To create a transparent investment environment, Quang Ngai continuously promotes administrative procedure reform, improves the business environment, enhances provincial competitiveness, and strengthens collaboration with businesses. In addition to fully implementing central preferential policies, the province also focuses on building a digital database of planning, land funds, preferential policies, and investment procedures, helping domestic and foreign businesses easily access information.

In the future, Quang Ngai will continue to prioritise selectively attracting FDI projects that use modern, environmentally friendly technology and create high added value. The province will continue to implement cooperation agreements with localities in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Australia, France, Israel, and Cuba; enhance image promotion, trade, and tourism; and support businesses in expanding export markets.
From expanding the partner network and attracting quality investment capital to promoting cultural values and strengthening connections with the international community, local foreign affairs have contributed to expanding the development space for Quang Ngai. With the foundation already established and a strong commitment to innovation, Quang Ngai is gradually affirming its position as an attractive destination for international partners, aiming to build a rapidly developing, sustainable, and deeply integrated locality in the new phase.
