Quang Binh tourism firmly steps into the world

Along with promoting, advertising tourism and exploiting important tourism points, the central province of Quang Binh has affirmed its position in Vietnam and global tourism map.

Important destination in Vietnam’s tourism map

In the history of formation and development, Quang Binh province is the holy land connecting a stretch of Vietnam's mountains and river. Once being a fierce battleground in national struggle. Therefore, this land is still quite wild, the natural landscapes are unexplored have not been known by many people.

Before 2000, tourism activities in Quang Binh was only simple service such as guest houses, hotels, motels with a limited number of tourists.

The period after 2000 marked many important milestone in the province’s tourism develpment.

In 2003, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park was recognized the World Natural Heritage, laying the foundation for Quang Binh to become an important destination in Vietnam's tourism map with cave tourism products. In 2012, for the first time, the province welcomed over 1 million tourists.

​Since 2013, Quang Binh tourism has developed strongly. Along with promoting, advertising tourism, and exploiting important tourism points, Quang Binh affirmed its position in Vietnam’s tourism map and the globe one.

Quang Binh’s provincial Tourism Department said that within the first 10 months in 2023, the total number of arrivals in the province is estimated to reach about 3.9 million, 2.2 times higher than the same period in 2022.

In which, domestic tourists is estimated to reach 3.8 million, 2.18 times higher than the same period last year and international tourists estimated at 97.900, 3.9 times higher than the same period last year.

According to the statistics, there are currently 532 operating accommodation establishments with 8,475 rooms and 16,200 beds in Quang Binh province. Regarding tourism businesses, the province currently has nearly 3,000 food service businesses, including 4 restaurants and 1 shopping service business that have been granted standard signs to serve tourists.

Reaching out to the world

For many years, Quang Binh tourism has been appreciated by domestic and international media. The New York Times (USA) ranked Quang Binh province the 8th among 82 most attractive in the world and the first in 12 destinations in Asia.

Son Doong cave was listed among top “unbelievably beautiful” destination by Australia’s News Magazine. America’s Business Insider voted Quang Binh as one of 12 most magnificent caves in the world...

Meanwhile, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was honored as a World Natural Heritage twice (in 2003 and 2015). This has affirmed and enhanced the role and position of the National Park, while also attracting the attention of many domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to this place.

Or the event that Tan Hoa tourist village in Minh Hoa district was honored by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as "The best tourist village in the world in 2023" last October has brought great achievements in the field of tourism communication and promotion of Quang Binh. This is considered an opportunity for Tan Hoa to firmly step into the world.

Mr. Pham Hong Thai, Director of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board said that in order for the Phong Nha-Ke Bang tourism brand to increasingly reach the world, the Park Management Board has determined that in the coming time it is necessary to focus on perform a number of key tasks as followed:

Enhancing the work of promoting the value of natural resources in a reasonable way to develop appropriate types of tourism and tourism products, especially sustainable eco-tourism; (ii) Focusing on quality and uniqueness, develop new routes according to the roadmap and based on the threshold and capacity of the forest environment...

In addition, it is necessary to keep on promoting the image of natural heritage Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park to the domestic and international community; proactively connect and implement regional links, especially localities with heritage to better promote the image of tourism.

Attracting investment resources from society and large corporations to invest in projects and developing new high-quality regional and international tourism products; striving to turn Phong Nha - Ke Bang into a national tourist area and an adventure tourism capital of Asia...

In the last month of 2023, to create momentum for 2024, Quang Binh tourism industry should focuse on solution groups such as planning, support, state investment and mobilizing social resources to invest in tourism developmentm, products; advertising, promoting, connecting and supporting tourists.

At the same time, training, fostering and developing tourism human resources; building tourism culture; developing and diversifying the tourist market; applying science and technology to tourism development.
