Quang Ninh to raise tourism attraction, targeting new markets

Domestic tourism is internal force
In 2023, with the theme “Improving the effe ctiveness of attracting investment and people’s quality live”, Quang Ninh tourism determined the viewpoint and orientation of "considering domestic tourism as an internal force and fundamental foundation for sustainable development, while taking advantage of all opportunities to recover the international tourist market".
Since then, the province has proposed many solutions to attract tourists, focusing on promoting activities to stimulate intra-provincial and domestic tourism; at the same time, proactively take advantage of all opportunities to recover international markets, adapt safely, and develop quickly.
This year, Quang Ninh successfully organized many events to attract domestic and tourists.
For example: Carnaval Ha Long Summer 2023, Conference on developing Quang Ninh tourism 2023, Marathon VN Express Tournament 2023, Series of 60th Anniversary of Quang Ninh province establishment October 30th(1963-2023), Fashion show of the Miss Grand International Delegation in Ha Long within the framework of the Miss Grand International contest, Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long celebrates the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, The 15th Vietnam - China International Trade and Tourism Fair, Ha Long Heritage Marathon, etc.
Overall, there are more than 130 activities, events, programs of culture, sports, trade and tourism. These events are associated with cultural identity, tourism resources of each localities in province. At the same time, 28 new tourism products will put into operation to serve tourists, creating highlights and impressions for tourists when landing in Quang Ninh.
To promote tourism attraction, Quang Ninh focused on 3 factors: Building attractive and unique tourism products; Promoting quality services; Ensuring a civilized and safe tourism environment; Promoting and advertising; building and positioning the Ha Long - Quang Ninh tourism brand associated with national and international tourism brands.
Province also proactively exploits all opportunities, organizes linkages, promotions and advertisements to restore the international tourist market, especially luxury cruise tourists; Chinese and Korean tourists, etc.
For example, organizing a pilot programme to welcome Chinese self-driving tourist cars to Mong Cai and Ha Long. This is a potential tourism product, attracting Chinese tourists back and creating revenue for businesses, increasing revenue for the local budget.
Not only proactively receiving Chinese tourists, Quang Ninh province also develops new markets such as Muslim (Halal) and Indian tourists.
Preliminary statistics show that in the first 10 months of 2023, total tourists to Quang Ninh reached nearly 14 million, total revenue from tourism reached 29,140 billion VND. Of which, the total number of international visitors to Quang Ninh in the 10 months of 2023 is 1,547,000.
For the whole year of 2023, the total number of tourists to Quang Ninh is expected to reach 15.5 million (estimated to reach 103% of the growth scenario), of which international visitors are estimated to reach 2 million; total revenue from tourism is estimated at 33,480 billion VND.

Focusing on Northeast Asia and China market
Quang Ninh province strived to attract over 16 million visitors by 2024; including 13.5 million domestic tourists and 2.5 million international tourists. By 2025, Quang Ninh tourism will move into a strong development phase, striving to welcome about 17.5 million visitors, including at least 4.5 million international visitors.
By 2030, Quang Ninh tourism will be truly developed to become a key and sustainable economic sector, affirming its role as a tourism center connecting the region and the world, a leading tourism key of the country, striving to welcome at least 25.5-26 million visitors, including at least 8.6-9 million international tourists; the average growth rate of tourists in the period 2025-2030 will reach 10-11%/year.
To complete the targets, in the coming time, Quang Ninh province continues to remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up the implementation of ongoing projects, specifically promoting investment attraction in tourism and service projects in key areas: Ha Long, Cam Pha, Uong Bi, Van Don, Mong Cai, etc.
Along with that, solutions will be synchronously and drastically carried out to promote tourism and service development, increase tourism spending and revenue; focus on strongly developing the Northeast Asian and Chinese customer markets.
Building ecosystems of products and services, linking tourism with retail, food service, restaurant - hotel, resort and health care industries, promoting regional and intra-regional linkages in developing tourism products and services. At the same time, strengthening connections between training institutions, businesses and the labor market in developing tourism human resources; improving the efficiency of digital transformation in the tourism and service sectors.
According to the plan, the province will also develop and implement policies, plans and programs to attract all resources to develop modern integrated services that increasingly play a leading role; Tourism becomes a key economic sector associated with sustainable marine economic development.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh province People’s Committee stressed that this province would proactively implement solutions to promote tourism. Quang Ninh province has had specific plans to identify of domestic and international markets, from which there are solutions to promote and attract investment in the tourism sector and build attractive tourism products. In particular, the province will continue to develop policies to support businesses and individuals with loans, promote and attract businesses to invest to have many attractive products for tourists, etc.
