Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Binh told the press ahead of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s trip to China for the meeting and working sessions from June 24-27 that Prime Minister Chinh is among the few government heads invited by the WEF and host China to attend the event for two consecutive years.

This demonstrates the importance they attach to Vietnam’s position, role and contributions to global economic growth, as well as the country’s development vision for the future economy, the official stressed.

The meeting will help Vietnam get an insight into new matters, trends and impulses of the global economy, and exchange views on development mindsets and governance at national and global levels, he continued.

Vietnam would use the occasion to step up exchanges and relations with other countries, partners and international organisations, and affirm its role and position in the international community, contributing to effectively implementing the foreign policy set at the 13th National Party Congress, the official said.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Binh, the Prime Minister will hold talks and bilateral meetings with high-ranking leaders of China, which play an important role in enhancing political trust and materialising common perceptions and high-level agreements between the two sides.

Notably, Prime Minister Chinh will deliver a special speech at the opening session, together with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other foreign leaders, Binh said, adding that the Vietnamese leader will also make remarks at sessions and chair dialogues with businesses.

The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that Prime Minister Chinh’s attendance will significantly contribute to the meeting’s success, explaining that the PM will share Vietnam’s views on prospects, opportunities and challenges to the world economy for both short and long terms, propose solutions to optimise potential and strengths of the Asia-Pacific, and call for cooperation and joint efforts of the WEF and partners, especially in priority and new spheres like artificial intelligence (AI), science-technology, and innovation.
