MoT also tapped the experience of many countries that have developed express railways, including Spain.
The 1,435 mm dual gauge railway will be around 1,545 km in length and run through 20 cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The line will allow speeds of up to 320 km/h.
Vietnam approved 200 billion USD for the railway network between 2021 and 2030, with a vision to 2050, in which 60 billion USD will be designed for the North-South express railway project, said Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy.
