During the meeting, both sides expressed their delight at the positive outcomes of exchanges between Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities with Chongqing. They agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels and further enhance practical cooperation in economic-trade, investment, infrastructure development, logistics, education, tourism, and boost people-to-people exchanges.
In the first eight months of 2025 alone, bilateral trade turnover reached 4.27 billion USD, a 26.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Vietnam has become the largest trade partner, accounting for over one-third of Chongqing's total trade with ASEAN countries.
Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Vu suggested that Chongqing consider participating in the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor; expand imports of high-quality agricultural and aquatic products from Vietnam; facilitate Vietnamese businesses in effectively utilizing the international rail link from Chongqing to European countries; and encourage Chongqing enterprises to invest in Vietnam in areas of strength such as electronics, manufacturing, urban management, and green transition. The Deputy Foreign Minister also hoped Chongqing would offer more scholarships for Vietnamese students to study at key universities and facilitate Vietnamese airlines with flight slot timings.
