New Content of Regulations for the 17th Press Award 'For the Cause of Great National Unity'

According to the regulations, the award is open to all professional and non-professional journalists, collaborators, and correspondents from domestic press agencies as well as overseas Vietnamese who have journalistic works meeting the content criteria of the 2025-2026 17^th Press Award “For the Cause of Great National Unity”.

Entries must have discovery value, accurately and promptly reflect promotional content on the Party’s guidelines and policies, State laws and the action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on building and promoting the strength of great national unity.

Works should convey content related to the Fatherland Front at all levels participating in building a Party and State of integrity and strength; preventing and combating corruption, negativity and wastefulness; supervising cadres, Party members and civil servants at the grassroots level; and implementing grassroots democracy regulations.

In addition, works should closely follow and honestly reflect the political, cultural, socio-economic, national defense and security situation as well as major events of the country and localities; widely promote the implementation of the Resolution of the 13^th Party Congress; Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023, of the 8^th Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to promote the tradition and strength of great national unity, building a prosperous and happy country; Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo and Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW on “Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style”.

Particularly encouraged are works that take the lead in opposing and refuting wrongful and reactionary arguments from hostile forces aiming to undermine the Party, the State and sow division in the great national unity bloc; works that effectively serve as a broad, trustworthy social forum for the people; timely reflect and report on the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat’s policies and decisive directions, as well as the innovations and strong determination of the National Assembly and Government, thereby contributing to consolidating public trust.

Other key focuses include:

* Promoting the participation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Party congresses at all levels and the 14^th National Party Congress; and the congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, political-social organizations, and mass associations for the 2026–2031 term.

* Promoting the results of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s tasks during the consultation process to nominate candidates for the 16^th National Assembly and the elections for People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

* Promoting the implementation of campaigns and emulation movements: the campaign “All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized cities”, the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods”, “All people participate in environmental protection and climate change adaptation”; “The whole country joins hands for the poor – leaving no one behind” and charity, relief, and poverty-alleviation efforts. In particular, promoting the results of the nationwide emulation movement “Eradicating temporary and dilapidated housing” in 2025.

* Promoting the results of implementing the Regulation on social supervision and criticism by the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political-social organizations; the Regulation on participation by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, political-social organizations, and the people in contributing opinions to Party and government building under Politburo Decisions 217 and 218, focusing on the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s supervision programs and social criticism activities.

Eligible press formats include printed newspapers, online newspapers, radio, television, and photojournalism.

Genres include research articles, features, interviews, reportage, short reportage (radio-television), documentaries, news, special reports, columns, talk shows, investigative journalism, journalistic essays, commentaries, monographs, and press photography (video clips published on online newspapers are not accepted).

Entries must have been published or broadcast by domestic press agencies between August 1, 2024, and July 31, 2026. Each author may submit up to five entries that meet the stated requirements. A group entry may have no more than seven authors.

Works that have already won awards in local, sectoral, or inter-sectoral competitions at the central level during this period are still eligible for the “For the Cause of Great National Unity” Press Award but must clearly state the prize level and the organizing body.

The results of the 2025-2026 17^th “For the Cause of Great National Unity” Press Award will be announced and presented on the occasion of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Traditional Day (November 18, 2026) and will include the following prizes: one Special Prize worth 30 million VND; Prize A worth 15 million VND; Prize B worth 10 million VND; Prize C worth 5 million VND; and Consolation Prizes worth 3 million VND each.

Submission period is from June 23, 2025 until the end of July 31, 2026 (based on the postmark date).
