The World and Vietnam Report fosters substantive cooperation with Guangxi Daily

Expressing her delight at welcoming the Guangxi Daily delegation, Ms. Vu Chi Mai, Deputy Director General of The World and Vietnam Report, emphasized that Guangxi is a locality close to Vietnam, and the two sides share many cultural similarities and have a close people-to-people relationship.

According to Ms. Vu Chi Mai, since 2024, The World and Vietnam Report and Guangxi Daily have had numerous initial exchanges and maintained a good cooperative relationship.

The World and Vietnam Report always values promoting media cooperation with Guangxi and wishes to turn the ideas exchanged over time into concrete, practical, and sustainable cooperative activities.

In this spirit, Deputy Director General Vu Chi Mai proposed that both sides enhance the exchange of news, articles, images, and video clips about Vietnam-China relations, as well as cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in fields such as economy, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

They should also select suitable content to publish on each side's media platforms.

The two sides could also collaborate to produce joint journalistic products such as thematic series or short videos introducing the potential for Vietnam-Guangxi cooperation, or stories about friendship and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Notably, Ms. Vu Chi Mai proposed that both parties explore historical materials related to President Ho Chi Minh in Guangxi, combining historical elements with a modern perspective to spread the values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology to readers in both countries.

Additionally, Ms. Vu Chi Mai expressed a desire for both sides to enhance journalist exchanges, organize field trips, and conduct on-site reporting, thereby allowing journalists to directly learn about the country, people, and cooperative activities between the two media agencies. Furthermore, The World and Vietnam Report also wishes for Guangxi Daily to share experiences in digital transformation, short video production, and effectively applying artificial intelligence (AI) in journalistic products.

Mr. Liu Cun, Editor-in-Chief of Guangxi Daily, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from The World and Vietnam Report. He noted that Guangxi Daily is a key media agency in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, currently operating the Guangxi International Media Center and has established cooperative relations with many major media agencies in ASEAN countries. In 2024, leaders of The World and Vietnam Report visited Guangxi to attend the launch of the Guangxi International Media Center.

He appreciated the cooperation proposals from The World and Vietnam Report and emphasized that media cooperation should be concretized through practical activities to delve deeper. In the future, both sides will enhance coordination in promoting important foreign affairs events of the two Parties, two States, economic-trade cooperation projects, culture, tourism, local exchanges, and China-ASEAN cooperation.

Particularly, Editor-in-Chief Liu Cun proposed “engaging youth and young journalists as the core force” in media exchange activities, thereby creating more bridges between the younger generations of the two countries.

Addressing the topic of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangxi, Mr. Liu Cun expressed that this is a subject with great potential for joint exploration. He mentioned locations associated with President Ho Chi Minh's activities in Guangxi, including Duc Tai School, where President Ho Chi Minh once cared for and guided Vietnamese youth. According to him, combining historical stories with a perspective on today's youth can create vibrant journalistic products, contributing to enhancing understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Regarding AI application in journalism, Mr. Liu Cun shared that Guangxi Daily is actively integrating AI into content production and distribution. Every Wednesday, Guangxi Daily has a section on AI to update global digital technology trends and introduce AI application scenarios in ASEAN countries.

However, he emphasized that AI application must be accompanied by ethical requirements and journalistic principles. AI can assist journalists in editing, data processing, and translation, but it cannot replace actual fieldwork. Journalists still need to be on-site to gather information and verify facts.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to gradually transition to a regular, in-depth cooperation mechanism that yields specific results; explore signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU); and continue exchanges to promptly implement the discussed content, contributing to deepening the cooperation between The World and Vietnam Report and Guangxi Daily.

Both sides also agreed to work towards building joint media campaigns, enhancing coordination in promoting major events of Vietnam and China in the near future.
