On the afternoon of February 2, immediately following the official welcoming ceremony held solemnly at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Mazen Turki El Qadi and the high-level parliamentary delegations of both countries.

During the talks, on behalf of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed the Jordanian House Speaker's official visit to Vietnam. He highly appreciated Jordan for organizing the visit right after the official visit of King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to Vietnam, demonstrating Jordan's commitment to promoting friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, including parliamentary collaboration.

Congratulating Jordan on its developmental achievements, role, and contributions to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, NA Chairman Man affirmed that Vietnam values and seeks to enhance practical and effective cooperation with Jordan across all fields.

NA Chairman Man provided information on the results of the 14th National Party Congress, preparations for the 16th National Assembly elections, and emphasized Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, resilience, multilateralization, diversification, and readiness to contribute positively and responsibly to peace, stability, and cooperation based on respect for the UN Charter and international law.

Jordanian House Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time, warmly congratulated the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and personally congratulated Chairman Tran Thanh Man. He conveyed the greetings and regards from King Abdullah II and Jordanian leaders to General Secretary To Lam and Vietnamese leaders.

The Jordanian House Speaker noted that after visiting Vietnam, King Abdullah II frequently mentioned Vietnam's "geographical location, political stance, and regional role and position" as its three remarkable features.

Admiring Vietnam's developmental achievements, the Jordanian House Speaker emphasized that Jordan views Vietnam as an "economic and technological development miracle" and is keen to enhance "unlimited" cooperation with Vietnam.

The House Speaker particularly appreciated Vietnam's balanced stance and support regarding the Palestine issue. Highlighting Jordan's strategic position, he affirmed Jordan's readiness to act as a bridge and cooperate with Vietnam to promote peace, reconstruction, and development in the Middle East.

In an open, sincere, trusting, and mutually understanding atmosphere, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn and Jordanian House Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi agreed to continue strengthening political and diplomatic relations, considering this a crucial foundation for promoting comprehensive cooperation. They emphasized the importance of exchanging delegations, especially high-level ones and among specialized committees of the two parliaments.

On this occasion, NA Chairman Man extended an invitation to Jordanian Senate President Faisal El-Fayez to visit Vietnam soon.

The two leaders agreed to enhance the presence and support of citizens and businesses from both countries, including considering the establishment of permanent representative offices in each country. They also agreed to leverage their roles as bridges to boost cooperation between Vietnam and the Middle East, Jordan and ASEAN, and between the two regions, coordinating viewpoints and supporting each other at multilateral forums.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, NA Chairman Man and Jordanian House Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi agreed on the need to enhance exchanges and share legislative experiences, update information on the organizational structure and parliamentary activities of each country, and promote exchanges and cooperation among parliamentarians, including exploring the establishment of a Friendship Parliamentary Group.

Both sides will continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), contributing to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

On economic and trade cooperation, both sides acknowledged the significant potential for cooperation between the two countries. Chairman Man emphasized Vietnam's desire to expand cooperation with Jordan in economic and trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, education and training, and healthcare. He also expressed hope for Jordan's support in anti-saltwater intrusion technology using coral reefs in the Mekong Delta.

Both sides agreed to enhance coordination, promote negotiations, and soon sign and ratify important bilateral agreements to complete the legal framework, facilitating cooperation.

On this occasion, Jordanian House Representative Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi extended a cordial invitation to Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn to officially visit the Kingdom of Jordan. Chairman Tran Thanh Man gladly accepted the invitation and suggested that both sides arrange a specific time through diplomatic channels.

Following the talks, National Assemble Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Jordanian House Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi signed the "Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan", establishing a framework to promote parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
