The film Mua Do has been a hot topic in the media and on social networks since August 18, when it was officially introduced to the media and audiences in Hanoi.

The feature film quickly received a flood of praise from critics across the country and became the most discussed topic on film forums and social media.
“Mua Do” is a fictional work inspired by the 81-day battle of 1972 at the Quang Tri Citadel, fought by Battalion K3 Tam Dao - a pivotal stronghold that contributed to Vietnam’s victory at the negotiating table of the Paris Peace Accords.
The production was commissioned by the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defence, overseen by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and produced by the Army Cinema. It is directed by Lieutenant Colonel, Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, with contributions from producer Tri Vien, cinematographer, People’s Artist Ly Thai Dung and composer Cao Dinh Thang.
The cast brings together many promising young talents such as Do Nhat Hoang, Nguyen Phuong Nam, Nguyen Dinh Khang, Ha Anh, Steven Nguyen and Le Hoang Long, alongside seasoned actors including Tran Luc, Than Thuy Ha, Hua Vi Van and Lam Vissay.
In the week of 5 - 11 August, “ain” ranked second in the social trend chart (film category) with nearly 87,000 online mentions. Just one week later (12–18 August), discussions soared to nearly 169,000, propelling the film to the No.1 spot. Anticipation surged during early screenings on 21 August, and the film exploded at the box office upon its official release.
According to Box Office Vietnam, by the morning of 23 August, the film had grossed 44 billion Vietnam Dong, recording an exceptionally high cinema occupancy rate, with ticket sales and screening numbers far surpassing other films released at the same time.
Unlike many Vietnamese productions - particularly those on war themes - that often attract mixed reviews, “Mua Do” has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Critics predict the film will continue its strong box office performance over the coming days and maintain momentum throughout the National Day holiday period.
| Based on the famous novel Mua Do by writer Chu Lai, the film powerfully recreates the intense atmosphere in which ten of thousands of young soldiers fought under extremely harsh conditions, where blood mingling with bombs and fire. The narrative does more than depict the devastating scale of war: it delves into the fate, emotions, inner conflicts and yearning for life of the soldiers. Faithful to the spirit of its literary source, “Mua Do” champions humanistic values, honours immortal sacrifice, and above all, places human beings at the centre - ordinary yet extraordinary in a defining moment of history. |
