An overview of Can Tho city.

The strategy is built to address major challenges that Can Tho is encountering such as flood, sea level rise, and drought caused by climate change, along with food security, diseases, consumer price fluctuation, and water resources management.

It is hoped to help the city increase its resilience against risks posed by natural calamities, social, economic and environmental pressure, and climate change.

Director of the program Amit Prothi described Can Tho as the most dynamic locality in the Mekong Delta in terms of socio-economic development, adding that the city has quickly carried out activities to build strategies to increase urban resilience capacity.

The 100RC program will help Can Tho improve the local living standards, facilitate business and investment, evaluate the impacts of pressure and shocks to society, economics, culture and environment in the middle and long term.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Dao Anh Dung said Can Tho has established the 100RC programme office and is making the assessment of factors affecting the local socio-economic development to define priority fields for the resilience strategy.

Can Tho is striving to become a growing and responsible city in increasing resilience for the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in the future.
