Inauguration of the Vietnam-Australia National Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Western Australia

WVR - On March 31, at the Canning City Administration Center (Western Australia), the Australia-Vietnam National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAVCCI) was officially launched, marking a new development in efforts to promote economic, trade, and investment relations between Vietnam and Western Australia.

The event attracted a large number of delegates, including representatives from the Western Australian Government, diplomatic agencies, and the business community.

Attendees included Ms. Jackie Jarvis – Minister for Agriculture and Food, Fisheries, Forestry, Small Business, and the Mid West region of Western Australia; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Consul General of Vietnam in Perth; Mr. Jonathan Huston – Deputy Leader of the Western Australian Liberal Party; Ms. Sook Yee Lai – Member of Parliament; Mr. Mark Bain – Deputy Mayor of Canning City, and Ms. Natasha Hart – Deputy Director of the Western Australia Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Jackie Jarvis highly appreciated the economic cooperation potential between Western Australia and Vietnam – one of Australia's fastest-growing trade partners in the region.

She stated that the state government is planning to organize a trade promotion delegation to Vietnam at the end of 2026, thereby expanding cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, energy, and services.

Deputy Mayor of Canning City Mark Bain also emphasized the positive development of Vietnam-Australia relations, especially at the local level.

He noted that the Vietnamese community in Australia, including Western Australia, serves as a crucial bridge to promote trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the establishment of NACCI will provide additional impetus for local businesses to enhance access and cooperation with the Vietnamese market.

Ms. Natasha Hart, Deputy Director of the Western Australia Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, stated that Vietnam is emerging as an important link in the Indo-Pacific supply chain.

Amidst global economic shifts, the establishment of NAVCCI is a timely step, contributing to supporting businesses from both countries in accessing information, expanding connections, and effectively leveraging cooperation opportunities.

Mr. Edmund Damouni, co-founder of NACCI, stated that the Chamber of Commerce was established to meet the growing demand for a substantive connection mechanism between the Australian and Vietnamese business communities.

He affirmed that NAVCCI will serve as a bridge, promoting specific cooperation initiatives, supporting businesses in finding partners, and expanding bilateral investment and trade.

Notably, NAVCCI received positive suggestions and support from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth, demonstrating the proactive role of the Vietnamese representative office in promoting business connections and enhancing local economic cooperation.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Nguyen Thanh Ha emphasized that Vietnam is a dynamic economy, maintaining high growth rates and deeply integrating with a network of free trade agreements, opening up many opportunities for international businesses, including those from Western Australia.

She affirmed that NAVCCI will be an important platform to help businesses from both countries connect, exchange information, and develop specific cooperation projects.

The Consul General also expressed confidence that, under the leadership of reputable, experienced, and dedicated individuals, NAVCCI will quickly develop into a dynamic and influential network, contributing to promoting business cooperation between Vietnam and Australia.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth is committed to continuing to accompany and support business connection initiatives, coordinating with NAVCCI and related organizations to further strengthen trade, investment, and innovation links between Vietnam and Western Australia.

Mr. Ky Cao, Chairman of NAVCCI, acknowledged the significant support from the Consulate General of Vietnam in the formation of the Chamber of Commerce. He stated that NAVCCI will focus on promoting cooperation in potential areas such as renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, logistics, and new technology.

At the event, NAVCCI member businesses introduced several exemplary cooperation projects with Vietnam in the fields of manufacturing, logistics, and agricultural exports.

The organizers also screened a video about the country, people, and economic potential of Vietnam provided by the Consulate General of Vietnam, helping the Western Australian business community gain a better understanding of the investment environment in Vietnam.
