Hue City exhibition showcases Vietnam's folk paintings

The Hue Royal Fine Arts Museum opened an exhibition on several typical folk paintings of Vietnam and traditional handicrafts of Hue on April 14.

On display are over 150 works and woodblocks of folk paintings belonging to five typical folk painting styles of Vietnam, including Dong Ho in the northern province of Bac Ninh, Hang Trong in the capital city of Hanoi, Kim Hoang in Hanoi, Lang Sinh in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue and Do The in the southern region.

The exhibition also showcases several traditional handicrafts and professions in Hue, such as the Sinh village painting, Thanh Tien paper flowers, A Luoi Dèng silk weaving, conical hat making, wood carving, and Hue kite making.

Statistics showed that Thua Thien – Hue is now home to 86 craft villages and 57 traditional crafts operating independently at 123 locations at the district level, with a large number of skilled and talented craftsmen.

The event will last till April 22.
