At the event, Mr. Justin Harris, Director of External Affairs at JIS, stated that as one of the leading international schools in Brunei and the region, JIS is very interested in and supportive of cultural exchange activities with other countries, including Vietnam. Additionally, JIS aims to further promote educational exchange and interaction with educational institutions in Vietnam, as well as attract more Vietnamese students to study at the school in the near future.

JIS faculty and nearly 30 students from grades 9 to 12, representing various nationalities, experienced traditional Vietnamese hand embroidery techniques under the guidance of Mrs. Le Thi Hong Ngoan, the Ambassador's spouse, Mrs. Maisarah Nguyen, founder of the Rattan House handicraft enterprise, and Mrs. Pham Thu Phuong, a representative of the Vietnamese community in Brunei.

With the message of promoting traditional crafts linked to environmental protection, all materials used at the event were either natural or recycled, including old newspapers, used plastic bottles, and dried plants. Mrs. Le Thi Hong Ngoan and the instructors shared that they will continue to explore natural materials in Brunei to incorporate into Vietnamese handicraft products, contributing to cultural exchange activities between Vietnam and Brunei.

The Embassy presented the JIS library with several famous Vietnamese children's literature books translated into English, such as Diary of a Cricket by To Hoai, I See Yellow Flowers in the Green Grass, and Give Me a Ticket to Childhood by Nguyen Nhat Anh. Ambassador Tran Anh Vu expressed his hope that JIS students and international friends will warmly receive Vietnamese literary works and continue to support and participate in activities promoting and connecting Vietnamese culture with Brunei and international partners in the future.

The school has over 1,700 students and faculty from various nationalities, with modern facilities and an advanced curriculum. JIS ranks among the top 100 private schools worldwide and the top 10 private schools in the Asia-Pacific region.
