During a reception in Ha Noi on September 28 for a delegation of the elderly on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons (October 1) and Viet Nam's Action Month for the Elderly, President Phuc lauded the elderly associations at all levels for holding meaningful and practical activities over the past years that have brought legitimate benefits to senior citizens across the country.
Over the past years, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE) has become a common warm house for old persons to share their joy in life, affirmed its role and position and has been appreciated by the people at home and international friends, he said.
Having acknowledged and commended senior citizens for their contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, President Phuc suggested the VAE continue with their activities towards the elderly at the grassroots level, thus contributing to local movements and setting examples for departments and agencies nationwide.
The President wished that Party committees, administrations, Vietnam Fatherland Front, the VAE at all levels and young generations would take more practical actions to care for old persons, better perform the Party and State’s policies and guidelines for them in line with the Resolution adopted by the 13th National Party Congress, especially building a National Action Programme for the Vietnamese Elderly for the 2021-2030 period.
