WVR - Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a gathering on April 13 for women diplomats, spouses of ambassadors and diplomatic corps under the theme "Return to the cultural space of Xu Doai."

Attending the event were Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his spouse, Madam Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, Honorary President of the ASEAN Community Women’s Circle (AWC) in Hanoi, leaders of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, incumbent and former ambassadors, head of departments of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of ministries, central and local agencies; ambassadors, heads of international organizations, the ASEAN Women’s Circle of Hanoi and women diplomats of diplomatic corps.

Addressing the opening speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang stated, this is the inaugural event in a series of activities in 2024 to step up good relationships between and among friends in the diplomatic corps, incumbent and former Vietnamese diplomats, and other Vietnamese companions.

Culture represents the soul and essence of each and every nation. In this regard, to broaden international friends' experience in Vietnamese culture, thereby further fostering their understanding of and affection for Vietnam and enhancing international solidarity, Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held many cultural introductory and exchange programs, such as International Food Festival and Following Traces of Silk.

Given the theme "Return to the cultural space of Xu Doai" and the real-scene performance of "Tonkin's Quintessence", Vietnam wishes to introduce to international friends culture of the Red River Delta, where culture of Northern Vietnam converges.

On behalf of foreign diplomats in Vietnam, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Cristina Romila, expressed her joy and appreciation for the support and affection of Vietnamese people for Romania.

Romanian Ambassador emphasised that the event helps promote the role of not only women in general but also the role of female diplomats in work and daily life. Currently, with the contributions and roles of women in all life aspects, it has shown that Vietnam has made strides in empowerment and capacity building for women.

At the event, distinguished guests participated in a tree-planting ceremony at the Diplomatic Garden and enjoyed a buffet reception of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Moreover, delegates also had a chance to immerse themselves in Vietnamese folk games and Tonkin's rural market, go back in history to the water puppet culture through the real-scene performance of "Tonkin's Quintessence".
