The 25th Shangri-la Dialogue will take place in Singapore from May 29-31, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). This is Asia's premier defense summit, bringing together numerous defense ministers and global leaders to discuss key security issues.
Regarding Vietnam-Singapore relations, after more than 50 years of officially establishing diplomatic relations (1973 - 2024), the relationship between the two countries has continuously developed both in breadth and depth. Both sides regularly maintain delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, achieving many important, substantive, and effective results.
Singapore is currently the second-largest investor in Vietnam with total cumulative investment exceeding 80 billion USD, with the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) being regarded as a symbol of successful cooperation. Both sides have also noted positive progress in defense-security cooperation, education-training, science-technology, tourism, labor, and people-to-people exchanges.
Notably, in March 2025, during an official visit to Singapore, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening a new chapter with a long-term and comprehensive vision in bilateral relations.
