Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung meets Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen

WVR - On September 24, in New York, Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung met with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, as part of activities attending the high-level general debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the two Ministers expressed their delight at the development of the Vietnam – Denmark Comprehensive Partnership in recent times, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, green transition, and climate change response. Both sides agreed to promote high-level delegation exchanges in the near future, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1971-2026).

Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung shared Vietnam's upcoming development priorities, including transitioning the growth model, prioritizing the development of science and technology, innovation, and energy transition. In this spirit, the Acting Minister proposed that both sides continue to promote cooperation in priority areas, especially green transition and sustainable development.

The Acting Foreign Minister expressed his hope that Denmark would continue to support and advocate for the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the Agreement and push the European Commission (EC) to lift the "yellow card" on IUU fishing for Vietnam.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen congratulated Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung on his new position, affirming that Vietnam is one of Denmark's leading partners in Southeast Asia. He expressed admiration for Vietnam's economic achievements and highly appreciated Vietnam's development policies.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen thanked Vietnam for facilitating the operations of the LEGO factory in Vietnam and confirmed that he would encourage Danish businesses to increase investment in Vietnam, especially in the field of green transition. He also appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Denmark to the local socio-economic development and as a bridge to promote cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation and support each other in multilateral forums, while also discussing some international and regional issues of mutual concern.
