During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her delight at the positive and substantial developments in bilateral relations in recent times, especially since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit of General Secretary To Lam to the United Kingdom in October 2025.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the positive cooperation outcomes between the two countries in areas such as the establishment of an international financial center, security and defense, green finance, clean energy, as well as the effective implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and within the ASEAN-UK relations framework.
Emphasizing the potential for further cooperation, the Deputy Minister proposed that both sides continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement the contents of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework and the results of General Secretary To Lam's visit to the UK, particularly in trade and investment, finance, defense and security, energy transition, climate change response, and education and training cooperation.
The Deputy Minister also requested that the UK facilitate visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens.

For his part, Ambassador Iain Frew commended Vietnam's comprehensive development achievements in recent times, particularly the success of the 14th Party Congress, the 16th National Assembly elections, and the consolidation of key leadership positions.
The Ambassador expressed confidence in Vietnam's strong development prospects and noted that more British businesses and investors are interested in seeking cooperation opportunities in the Vietnamese market. He affirmed that the United Kingdom wishes to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in trade and investment, the establishment of an international financial center, and expressed hope for a British university to soon open a branch in Vietnam.
Both sides agreed to continue promoting exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, to strengthen political trust and create momentum for comprehensive cooperation.
In the near term, both sides will coordinate to organize the 11th session of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Dialogue in 2026 and enhance cooperation at multilateral forums for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.
