During the meeting, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang and Ambassador Iain Frew reviewed the positive developments in ASEAN-UK relations recently, particularly the 98.9% implementation rate of the ASEAN-UK Action Plan for 2022-2026. They emphasized that this year marks the 5th anniversary of the ASEAN-UK Dialogue Partnership (2021-2026), which will create momentum to boost ASEAN-UK cooperation in the new phase.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam, as the coordinator for ASEAN-UK relations from 2024 to 2027, will continue to work closely with the UK to guide ASEAN-UK relations towards strong, comprehensive, long-term, and strategic development. This will align with the cooperation needs of both sides and adapt to new circumstances.
Vietnam is also actively coordinating and promoting the development of the ASEAN-UK Action Plan for 2027-2031, focusing on priority cooperation areas such as economy, finance, green transition, sustainable development, climate change response, innovation, and maritime cooperation.

Regarding bilateral relations, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang appreciated the UK's support for Vietnam in establishing an international financial center and promoting cooperation in various fields. He suggested that the UK actively share its experience in clean energy transition.
Ambassador Iain Frew praised Vietnam's role in coordinating ASEAN-UK relations, as well as Vietnam's increasingly active and proactive role in ASEAN and on the international stage, particularly in contributing to regional and global issues.
The Ambassador also affirmed his readiness to work with Vietnam to promote the implementation of the priority areas identified by both sides.
