The first-ever Da Nang International Film Festival will be held from May 9 to 13, as announced by the Vietnam Association of Film Promotion and Development (VFDA) and the Da Nang City People’s Committee on January 11.

The film festival will include an opening ceremony, the screening of participating entries, a Vietnamese cinema panorama programme, a programme to introduce films from foreign countries, seminars and workshops, field trips, a closing ceremony and an award ceremony.

The 2023 festival will include categories for Vietnamese films and Asian films, with prizes will be presented to best film, best director, best actor and actress, and best scriptwriter in each category.

The festival aims to honour excellent cinematographic works with humanistic values, new discoveries, and unique artistic expression.

It also aims to discover and encourage new talents of Vietnamese and Asian cinema while introducing the public to newly-released, high-valued films by Vietnamese, Asian, and international film makers.
