Conference: Towards building a comprehensive and professional Halal ecosystem

In her opening remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Minh Hang emphasized that developing the Halal industry is a significant policy aimed at diversifying markets and partners, actively implementing the Politburo's Resolutions on enhancing international integration in the new context, developing the private economy, contributing to enhancing national brand value, and driving growth model transformation.
The Deputy Foreign Minister assessed that Vietnam has many favorable conditions to develop the Halal industry, from natural advantages, deep international economic integration, to strengths in agriculture, textiles, tourism...
She expressed confidence that under the decisive direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, along with the support of localities, associations, and enterprises, Vietnam's Halal industry will be increasingly developed in a methodical, comprehensive, and professional manner.

In the thematic discussion session "Halal Project: Achievements, Results, and Implementation Directions to 2030", delegates noted that after nearly three years of implementing the Halal Project, Vietnam has achieved many positive results, with increased awareness of the Halal industry and more comprehensive international cooperation on Halal.
Notably, state management and the Halal standards and certification system have been increasingly perfected, with many agreements in the Halal field between Vietnam and Islamic countries signed.
The issuance of six national standards on Halal in the fields of food, tourism, restaurants... and the establishment of the National Halal Certification Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology mark Vietnam's new integration step into the global Halal economy.
Another important result is the active participation of localities, associations, and businesses. Many localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Khanh Hoa, Hanoi, Dong Nai... have proactively organized Halal promotion conferences, aiming to build the brand "Halal Vietnam - Halal Vinh Long", implementing a series of synchronized solutions from information provision, awareness enhancement, to direct trade connections...

Ms. Le Hang, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), stated that Vietnam's Halal seafood exports reach about 700 million USD annually, yet remain modest compared to the global market size of over 2,500 billion USD; she emphasized the growing demand for Halal products worldwide, opening up significant opportunities for Vietnamese seafood thanks to its raw material advantages and processing technology.
Ms. Ba Thi Nguyet Thu, Head of the Hanoi Green Cooperative, shared that the Cooperative has been building the "HalalViet Digital Platform" – a specialized digital ecosystem helping Vietnamese businesses and cooperatives access the global Halal market, promoting exports and the Halal Vietnam brand.
In the tourism sector, Mr. Pham Van Bay, a representative of Viettravel, stated that Vietnam has become an attractive Halal destination for Muslim tourists from Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, and Middle Eastern countries...

These results indicate that Vietnam is on the right track in gradually forming a national Halal ecosystem. However, delegates also assessed that Vietnam's Halal industry is still in its early stages and faces several challenges such as high Halal certification costs; a lack of unified global Halal standards; uneven awareness and expertise on Halal, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises...
To contribute to building a methodical and professional Vietnamese Halal industry, delegates proposed several important solutions such as continuing to raise societal awareness about the Halal industry, completing the unified national Halal standards soon, providing preferential credit support, training specialized Halal human resources, supporting certification costs, and promoting specialized Halal trade.
Delegates also proposed establishing a national inter-sectoral working group on Halal industry development, building Halal-standardized production and industrial zones, and piloting local Halal economic development models...

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Tra, Director General of the Middle East - Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that developing the Halal industry is an important task, contributing to effectively implementing Vietnam's foreign policy of multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, flexibility, creativity, and efficiency.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the focal point for implementing the Project and with a network of over 100 overseas representative agencies, will continue to accompany ministries, sectors, localities, associations, and businesses in promoting and connecting with Halal markets, enhancing international cooperation, and completing the legal framework... contributing to building a more methodical, comprehensive, and professional Vietnamese Halal industry in the coming time.
