This annual event, organized by the ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT), aims to enhance friendship, cohesion, and camaraderie among ASEAN representatives and their families.
This year, the event welcomed over 300 diplomatic officials and family members from 11 ASEAN embassies in Japan, along with representatives from Japan, including the Japan-ASEAN Center. The event was particularly notable for the first-time participation of Timor Leste as an official ASEAN member.
In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that this occasion allows ASEAN representatives to foster solidarity, enhance understanding, and strengthen trust, thereby deepening relations among ASEAN countries in Japan. Notably, Timor Leste's presence marks a significant step in expanding cooperation and building a stronger ASEAN family in Tokyo.

Hirabayashi Kunihiko, Secretary-General of the Japan-ASEAN Center, highlighted the importance of Japan-ASEAN relations and praised the significance of the event. According to him, ASEAN families brought a lively and impressive atmosphere on a sunny day in Japan's capital.
ASEAN Family Day in Tokyo featured numerous sports games, vibrant cultural activities, and a diverse ASEAN culinary space for both adults and children. The enthusiastic and joyful atmosphere pervaded the entire program, creating a warm and cohesive family festival. Although the event concluded, the spirit of friendship and unity continues to resonate, affirming Vietnam's effective coordination role in ASEAN activities in Japan in 2025.
