Celebration of 81st Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in Qatar
WVR - The celebration took place in a solemn and cordial atmosphere with the participation of over 200 guests, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.

On the evening of September 21, at the St. Regis Doha Hotel, the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar solemnly organized the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026).
The ceremony was attended by Qatar's Minister of Labor, Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri, Director of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mr. Ibrahim Fakhroo, along with over 200 guests, including representatives from Qatar's ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions and foreign diplomats, business representatives, journalists, and the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Qatar.
In his speech at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep expressed his honor and joy in welcoming distinguished guests on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Ambassador highlighted the historical significance of the milestone that ushered the Vietnamese nation into a new era, taking control of the country's destiny.

Reflecting on the journey of building and defending the nation, the Ambassador affirmed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people have overcome numerous difficulties and challenges, achieved victories in wars for national liberation, safeguarded territorial integrity, carried out comprehensive national reforms, and attained significant achievements.
On this foundation, Vietnam is continuing to promote national development according to the orientation set by the 14th Party Congress, aiming to become a developing country with modern industry and high middle-income status by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
From the nation's historical experiences, Vietnam always cherishes peace, emphasizes dialogue and cooperation, and strives to contribute to building a stable, peaceful, and favorable international environment for development. According to the Ambassador, peace and stability enable Vietnam to focus resources on national development, improve people's living standards, and deeply integrate with the region and the world.
This transformation is reflected in the positive economic development results in recent years. In 2025, Vietnam's GDP grew by 8.02%, with the economy reaching approximately $514 billion. In the first eight months of 2026, total import-export turnover reached 770.14 billion USD, up 28% year-on-year; total registered foreign investment capital reached 40.63 billion USD, up 55.4%.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador assessed that the friendship between Vietnam and Qatar has developed positively in various fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1993, especially after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Qatar in October 2024, opening a new phase of cooperation in economic, trade, investment, and energy sectors.
In 2025, bilateral trade turnover exceeded 700 million USD. According to information from Qatar, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is indirectly investing in several real estate and industrial projects in Vietnam with a total capital of approximately 500 million USD.
The Ambassador stated that Vietnam wishes to transition the bilateral relationship from traditional trade cooperation to investment cooperation and value chain linkage, prioritizing attracting Qatari investment in oil and gas, energy (especially LNG), infrastructure, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, industrial parks, urban areas, and tourism; while encouraging Vietnamese businesses to expand their presence in Qatar.
The Ambassador is confident that with increasing political trust and the determination of the leaders of both countries, Vietnam-Qatar relations will have ample room for development.
Addressing the regional situation, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep noted that the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East pose many security challenges and impact the regional economy, including Qatar, as well as global energy security and economy.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam condemns the use of force violating international law, the United Nations Charter, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations; supports dialogue and conflict resolution through peaceful means.
Vietnam appreciates the diplomatic efforts of countries in the region and the international community, especially Qatar's mediating role in efforts to de-escalate conflicts, aiming for sustainable solutions for regional peace and stability.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always values the friendship and cooperation with the State and people of Qatar; appreciates the cooperation and support of Qatari agencies and businesses, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, for Vietnam. The Embassy will continue to be a reliable bridge between the two countries, elevating Vietnam-Qatar relations to new heights. On this occasion, the Ambassador extended wishes for continued prosperity, peace, and success to the State and people of Qatar.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and friendly atmosphere, featuring a cake-cutting ceremony, and displays of Vietnamese culture and cuisine. Many guests expressed deep impressions of Vietnam's progress in recent times and highly appreciated the warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people.
